i-PRO Enhances Security Software with Generative AI for Natural Language Search

TLDR: i-PRO has launched Version 3.0 of its AI-powered intelligent search software, i-PRO Active Guard, which now features Generative AI for free text search. This update allows security teams to use natural language queries to interact with video management systems (VMS), significantly expanding search capabilities beyond predefined attributes. The system operates entirely on-premises, ensuring enhanced data control and cybersecurity for mission-critical environments.

i-PRO has announced the release of Version 3.0 of its i-PRO Active Guard, an advanced AI-powered intelligent search software designed to transform video surveillance operations. This latest update introduces a significant enhancement: free text search capabilities powered by Generative AI.

The core innovation in Active Guard 3.0 allows security operators to interact with video management systems (VMS) using natural language and everyday expressions. Instead of relying solely on predefined attributes, users can now type intuitive queries such as “fire engine,” “person who fell down,” or “electric scooter” and receive highly precise results. This functionality provides virtually unlimited flexibility, enabling security teams to describe exactly what they are looking for, even if those specific parameters were never manually tagged within the system.

Gerard Figols, Chief Operating Officer at i-PRO, highlighted the critical impact of this development. “Video data keeps growing, but the ability to quickly find what matters and instantly act on it with the right decision makes all the difference for mission-critical environments,” Figols stated. He further added, “Thanks to free text search using natural language, professionals gain greatly expanded search capabilities, creating precise search filters as easily as speaking.”

Active Guard 3.0 ensures seamless integration with prominent VMS platforms, including Genetec, Milestone, Luxriot, and VideoInsight, promising to deliver faster access, greater control, and smarter decision-making for security professionals. A key architectural decision for this release is its entirely on-premises operation. The system runs without the need for an external internet connection, granting organizations complete control over their data and mitigating potential latency or privacy concerns often associated with cloud-based processing.

Philippe Henaine, Manager, Strategic Partners at i-PRO, underscored the importance of the on-premises design, particularly for sensitive installations. “Mission-critical sites often restrict internet access to reduce cyber-risk, which rules out cloud-based features,” Henaine explained. “That’s why we built GenAI directly into the on-premises Active Guard server. Operators get the full power of free text search inside their VMS while keeping data privacy and cybersecurity paramount.”

Technologically, i-PRO Active Guard 3.0 integrates edge-processed analytics from i-PRO’s AI-enabled cameras with a robust server-based Generative AI engine. The system leverages best-shot images and metadata from i-PRO AI camera models to interpret user queries with exceptional precision and speed. A notable advantage for existing users is that they do not need to replace their current i-PRO AI cameras to benefit from this powerful software update. Moreover, through the X-Series camera AI processing relay feature, Active Guard 3.0 can extend its GenAI search capabilities to non-AI cameras, including those from other manufacturers, thereby integrating legacy devices into a modern Generative AI ecosystem.
