TLDR: Hitachi Vantara has articulated its strategic vision for India, focusing on accelerating data-driven futures through the integration of AI and generative AI solutions. The company is expanding its partner ecosystem, penetrating new markets beyond major metros, and launching innovative platforms like ‘Hitachi IQ with Hammerspace’ to enable seamless AI workload deployment across various sectors.
Hitachi Vantara, a leading provider of data storage, infrastructure, and hybrid cloud management solutions, has laid out an ambitious vision for India, emphasizing the pivotal role of artificial intelligence in shaping the nation’s data-driven future. In an exclusive interview with IT Voice on August 23, 2025, Mr. Hemant Tiwari, Managing Director for India & SAARC, detailed the company’s strategic expansion, partner ecosystem development, and commitment to fostering responsible, AI-powered growth across diverse industries and government verticals.
Over the past year, Hitachi Vantara’s partner ecosystem in India and SAARC has undergone significant maturation. Initially centered on traditional platforms like data storage and security, the focus has broadened to encompass advanced AI and generative AI solutions. Mr. Tiwari highlighted the extensive technical training and enablement provided to partners, empowering them to address emerging technological needs of customers. This expansion includes a footprint in 12 additional Tier-II cities, complementing their presence in the top seven metros, supported by investments in PC and demo systems and an aligned inside sales organization.
Reflecting on 2024, Mr. Tiwari noted it as a year of ‘consolidation and strategic deepening.’ Key achievements included penetrating three of India’s top four telecom service providers and expanding services from top-tier BFSI organizations to include mid-sized banks, securities firms, and stock exchanges. The government business also stabilized, paving the way for projected double-digit growth in 2025.
The ‘Run to Win 3.0’ partner program, an evolution of Hitachi Vantara’s partner enablement journey, has been refined based on feedback from the Partner Advisory Board. This inclusive program is designed to equip partner sales teams in both major metros and Tier-II cities to identify real-world use cases and deliver effective solutions, thereby enhancing business outcomes for both partners and Hitachi Vantara.
A significant innovation for 2025 is the unveiling of ‘Hitachi IQ with Hammerspace,’ a data orchestration platform described by Mr. Tiwari as ‘game-changing.’ This platform integrates the Hammerspace global file system with Hitachi Vantara’s VSP One block storage, creating a unified, AI-ready orchestration layer. This approach aims to be cost-effective and accessible to both large enterprises and mid-sized commercial businesses, facilitating the seamless deployment of AI workloads and accelerating the transition from AI experimentation to real-time adoption at scale.
From Hitachi Vantara’s perspective, the future of AI involves a shift from pilot projects to production-level deployments, with AI being embedded in customer-facing experiences and internal processes. AI is expected to drive agility and proactive insights in areas such as operational efficiency, sales intelligence, and customer lifecycle management, leading to deeper integration into core systems and decision-making.
Responsible data governance is a cornerstone of Hitachi Vantara’s strategy, particularly for regulated sectors like BFSI, healthcare, and government. Their data platforms incorporate hardware-level ransomware protection, snapshot locking, and encryption. The company also assists customers in developing robust data management strategies and lifecycle frameworks, emphasizing that data security and regulatory compliance are foundational, not optional.
Looking ahead, Hitachi Vantara sees immense opportunities in India and SAARC, particularly in the telecom sector as providers move towards ‘Everything-as-a-Service,’ including AI platforms. Further expansion is planned in BFSI, capital markets, mission-mode government projects, and state-level data centers. The 12-city expansion and mid-market focus are crucial for reaching untapped markets with their mid-tier storage platforms.

The ultimate goal is to provide a fully integrated stack—infrastructure plus intelligence—to enable faster and smarter AI deployment for customers. Mr. Tiwari concluded by acknowledging IT Voice’s role in industry awareness and reiterated Hitachi Vantara’s commitment to partnering with India in its journey towards digitization and technology-led transformation, focusing on innovation, partnership, and responsibility to drive the next wave of transformation.
