TRAI had previously released its comprehensive recommendations titled ‘Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Big Data in the Telecommunication Sector’. A significant proposal within these recommendations was the establishment of an independent statutory authority. This proposed body, potentially to be named the ‘Artificial Intelligence and Data Authority of India’ (AIDAI), would be tasked with overseeing the development of responsible AI and regulating its diverse use cases across the country. The ongoing government review is expected to deliberate on these and other crucial aspects of AI governance, aiming to create a robust framework for India’s AI future.
