TLDR: HELLENiQ ENERGY, a leading energy group, has significantly enhanced its operational efficiency and AI capabilities by deploying Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio. The initiative, in partnership with PwC, resulted in a 70% increase in user productivity and a 64% reduction in email processing time. The company fostered a ‘Digital Stars’ community of 600 employees, leading to the development of over 70 AI use cases, including a dedicated HR AI agent named HRaklis, demonstrating a strategic shift towards an AI-infused workforce.
HELLENiQ ENERGY, a prominent energy group with over five decades of innovation in Greece and Southeast Europe, has announced remarkable gains in productivity and a significant expansion of its artificial intelligence adoption through the strategic implementation of Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio. The company, which operates across the entire energy value chain with a focus on low-carbon solutions, embarked on this digital transformation to empower its workforce with advanced AI tools and skills.
The initiative saw HELLENiQ ENERGY partner with PwC, leveraging their adoption framework to introduce Microsoft 365 Copilot across the organization. This collaboration involved developing a structured adoption playbook aimed at training employees and transforming their approach to technology. George Konstantelos, Group Digital Transformation Director at HELLENiQ ENERGY, noted the company’s early interest in generative AI, stating, “We are very interested in what AI has to offer and signed up for early access to Microsoft 365 Copilot as soon as it became available.” Initial experimental pilots with a smaller audience helped define the company’s adoption strategy.
A key component of the rollout was the establishment of a ‘Digital Stars’ community, comprising approximately 600 employees from across the company and its subsidiaries. Their mission was to explore practical, measurable ways AI could enhance their daily work. Tasos Krapis, Head of Intelligent Automation Chapter, highlighted the smooth adoption, attributing it to the seamless integration of Copilot into the existing Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
The results have been substantial. Approximately 70% of Microsoft 365 Copilot users reported increased productivity. Specific metrics include tasks like identifying, processing, and sharing information being completed 29% faster, users catching up on missed meetings nearly four times faster, and a significant 64% reduction in email handling time. The company successfully gathered over 70 use cases where AI could be incorporated into productive workflows, driven by business priorities and employee suggestions.
Beyond general productivity, HELLENiQ ENERGY has begun exploring departmental AI agents. The first such agent, named HRaklis, was launched within the Human Resources (HR) function, developed with PwC on Microsoft Copilot Studio. HRaklis is designed to assist employees in navigating internal content, such as policies and documentation, stored within the corporate Microsoft 365 environment. Konstantelos emphasized, “Our people have access to multi-domain intelligence in a secure perimeter and an AI-powered digital workplace via Microsoft 365 Copilot and purpose-built Agents.”

Looking ahead, HELLENiQ ENERGY is shifting its focus from merely implementing technology to cultivating an AI-infused workforce. Konstantelos articulated this vision: “We are moving from system embedded capabilities to an AI infused workforce.” The goal is to empower each employee to effectively partner with AI, fostering new ways of thinking and working. “It’s up to each person to decide how they’re going to interact with these intelligent tools. We teach them what AI can and can’t do, and how to incorporate it into their daily working routines. We’re working on improving the mindset, not the technology,” Konstantelos concluded, underscoring the company’s commitment to fostering innovation and sustainable change through fundamental AI adoption.
