Great Learning, a leading global edtech company, has announced a significant initiative to empower India’s youth with crucial Generative AI (GenAI) skills. Titled ‘The Great Learning AI Challenge,’ this large-scale, free upskilling program is designed to accelerate GenAI readiness among students and early-career professionals across the nation. The initiative comes as India continues to solidify its position as a global AI hub, underscoring the critical need for a skilled workforce in this transformative technology.
The virtual challenge, which ran for three days from July 13 to July 15, provided participants with open access to more than 30 Generative AI courses through the Great Learning Academy, valued at ₹40,000. This program was launched in commemoration of World Youth Skills Day, with a core objective to democratize AI skills, bolster talent pipelines for the enterprise sector, and highlight educational institutions that are actively contributing to the GenAI revolution.
The campaign, aptly tagged ‘Gen Z Goes GenAI — Because careers don’t start with jobs, they start with skills,’ emphasizes the vital importance for young professionals to master generative AI to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving digital economy. The Great Learning AI Challenge is structured to accelerate GenAI adoption among Indian youth by offering an accessible and affordable platform for acquiring these essential skills. It encourages participants to build future-ready capabilities, showcase their learning achievements, and earn exclusive rewards, all while establishing a strong foundation in one of the most impactful technologies of our time.
Participation in the challenge was straightforward: students registered via a form, signed up for the Great Learning Academy, and completed any or all of the designated Generative AI courses between July 13 and 15. These courses covered a range of topics, including ‘ChatGPT for Marketing.’ Colleges with the highest number of unique students completing at least one eligible GenAI course during the challenge were recognized, with students helping their institutions climb a national leaderboard to compete for the ‘AI Champion’ title. The top three student profiles from the winning colleges will also receive an opportunity to intern with Great Learning.
