Google Ad Manager Enhances Publisher Capabilities with New AI-Powered Tools for Brand Safety and Live CTV Monetization

TLDR: Google has rolled out a suite of new AI-driven tools across its Ad Manager, AdSense, and AdMob platforms. These innovations aim to automate tasks, bolster brand safety for publishers through intelligent ad review, and significantly improve monetization opportunities for live Connected TV (CTV) content. Key features include an AI brand safety tool, a generative AI reporting tool, an AI-powered chat assistant, and a CTV Live-biddable solution.

On November 6, 2025, Google announced a significant expansion of its artificial intelligence capabilities within its sell-side advertising products: Google Ad Manager, AdSense, and AdMob. These updates are designed to streamline operations for publishers, reduce manual workloads, and unlock new revenue streams, particularly from high-value live streaming events. Scot Shefer, VP of Sell-side Monetization, highlighted that these tools address critical operational challenges publishers face in managing ad quality, generating performance insights, and monetizing unpredictable live content.

Central to the announcement is a new AI brand safety tool. This system learns a publisher’s unique brand standards by analyzing their past decisions in the Ad Review Center, identifying patterns in approved or rejected advertisements. While it currently surfaces potentially unwanted ads for review, future functionality will enable automatic blocking, building upon Google’s existing Protections framework and AI tools for fraud and scam detection. This automation is poised to significantly reduce the manual intervention previously required to maintain brand safety, especially for publishers with stringent regulatory or corporate policies.

For live CTV monetization, Google Ad Manager is introducing a ‘CTV Live-biddable’ solution. This feature is designed to help publishers maximize the value of high-viewership live broadcasts by making it easier for advertisers to bid in real-time for ad inventory. This solution helps publishers understand their live event audiences at scale and in real-time, providing advertisers with access to engaged viewers during peak moments. Ronan McCarthy, SVP of Media Operations at DAZN, provided a testimonial, stating that Google Ad Manager’s live CTV solution successfully delivered high-quality streams to millions globally for the FIFA Club World Cup, seamlessly integrating personalized advertisements and enabling monetization of premium, peak-viewership inventory.

Further enhancements include a generative AI reporting tool within Ad Manager, allowing publishers to create custom performance reports by simply asking questions, thereby gaining deeper insights into their campaign performance. Additionally, an AI-powered chat assistant has been integrated into the help centers of Ad Manager, AdSense, and AdMob, offering instant support for onboarding and troubleshooting, which is particularly beneficial for smaller publishers. Google is also rolling out the Buyer Direct feature in Ad Manager, facilitating direct deals between publishers and advertisers with the benefits of programmatic technology, such as real-time data and simplified billing, fostering more efficient, large-scale partnerships.

These advancements underscore Google’s ongoing commitment to leveraging AI to automate time-consuming tasks, allowing publishers to focus more on content creation and strategic growth. The implementation follows patterns established in Google’s broader advertising suite, with similar AI-powered features having been introduced in Google Ads in September 2024 and comprehensive AI advertising tools announced at Think Week 2025.
