Figma Acquires AI Media Generation Startup Weavy, Unveils ‘Figma Weave’ Platform

TLDR: Figma has acquired Weavy, an AI media generation startup based in Tel Aviv, to launch a new product line called ‘Figma Weave.’ The acquisition brings Weavy’s node-based AI tools for image and video creation into Figma’s ecosystem, enhancing its capabilities in generative design and directly competing with established players in the creative software market. Weavy’s team of 20 engineers and designers will join Figma, though financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Figma, a leading design platform, has announced the acquisition of Weavy, an innovative AI media generation startup headquartered in Tel Aviv. This strategic move, finalized on October 30, 2025, is set to culminate in the launch of a new product line named ‘Figma Weave,’ significantly expanding Figma’s offerings in the rapidly evolving field of generative design.

Weavy, founded in 2024, quickly made a name for itself with its advanced AI-powered tools for creating images and videos. The startup had previously secured $4 million in seed funding in June, with Entrée Capital leading the round, and contributions from Designer Fund, Founder Collective, and Fiverr founder Micha Kaufman.

The acquisition will integrate Weavy’s 20 engineers and designers into Figma’s team, bolstering its talent pool dedicated to AI and creative technology. While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the strategic value lies in Weavy’s unique technological approach.

At the core of Weavy’s technology is a node-based interface that empowers designers to simultaneously access and utilize multiple AI image and video generators. The platform supports a diverse range of models, including Sora, Veo, and Seedance for video generation, alongside Flux, Ideogram, Nano-Banana, and Seedream for image creation. This multi-model capability allows for greater flexibility and choice in AI-driven creative workflows.

Figma Weave is designed to combine the power of generative AI with professional-grade editing tools. Users will be able to refine AI-generated outputs by adjusting lighting, changing colors, masking objects, and making precise modifications through layer edits and prompt adjustments. The system also facilitates branching, remixing, and iterative refinement of media, establishing a flexible pipeline where each creative result can inform the next.

Dylan Field, CEO of Figma, expressed enthusiasm for Weavy’s approach, stating, “This node-based approach brings a new level of craft and control to AI generation… The Weavy team has inspired us with the balance they’ve struck between simplicity, approachability, and power.”

Initially, Weavy will continue to operate as a standalone product. However, Figma’s long-term vision involves deeper integration of Weavy’s functions into the broader Figma Weave brand and the existing Figma platform. This move positions Figma to directly challenge Adobe’s Creative Cloud AI features, offering designers a more open and flexible ecosystem for AI-powered creative tasks.

Weavy’s leadership includes CEO and co-founder Lior Albeck, who previously held the position of Executive Director and Head of Marketplace Supply at Fiverr. The startup’s broader team, comprising approximately 10 specialists across Israel, Portugal, Denmark, and Turkey, includes experts in computer graphics research and design education. Figma Weave is expected to develop comprehensive capabilities across image, video, animation, motion design, and VFX media generation.
