New Delhi, India – Global telecom leader Ericsson reaffirmed its profound commitment to India’s digital future at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, held from October 8 to 11 at Yashobhoomi. The company unveiled a comprehensive suite of 5G and AI-powered innovations aimed at enhancing connectivity, fostering inclusion, and driving industrial and societal progress across the nation.
India has emerged as a global frontrunner in 5G adoption, boasting over 360 million 5G subscribers and network coverage reaching more than 80% of its population. Ericsson’s immersive booth at IMC 2025 provided live demonstrations of how its technologies are actively reshaping industries, public services, and daily life.
Key Innovations Driving Digital Inclusion and Progress:
Grain ATM Annapurti: In a significant partnership with the World Food Programme, Ericsson introduced a 5G-enabled food grain dispenser. This ‘made-in-India’ innovation utilizes Aadhaar-based biometrics to accurately dispense 25 to 30 kilograms of food grains in just 30 seconds. Already deployed in cities such as Shillong, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, and Bhopal, 23 additional units are slated for nationwide rollout over the next year, supporting the ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme and ensuring 24×7 access to essential food grains.
StethoECG: Developed in collaboration with IIT Madras, this handheld wireless stethoscope integrates embedded ECG capabilities, enabling real-time remote diagnostics over 5G. This solution is particularly vital for expanding healthcare access in rural and underserved areas.
Automated Railcar Inspection: Demonstrating advanced industrial applications, Ericsson showcased an AI-powered robotic dog equipped with multiple sensors and high-definition cameras. Operating over a private 5G network, this robot inspects railcars for defects, streaming real-time data that is analyzed by AI systems to enhance safety and operational efficiency in the mobility sector.
Fixed Wireless Access (FWA): Ericsson’s FWA solutions are playing a crucial role in bridging India’s broadband divide, delivering fiber-like speeds wirelessly. With 8.4 million subscribers, 40% of whom are from rural areas, FWA is significantly expanding internet access.
Train Ride to the Future: An augmented reality (AR)-powered demonstration highlighted seamless 5G connectivity, showcasing breakthrough possibilities in AR/XR/VR and the transformative potential of 5G streaming and smart devices.
