This monumental growth, fueled by the proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud technologies, is fundamentally reshaping how enterprises manage and leverage their most critical asset: data. The shift has elevated data from a mere storage requirement to a foundational driver of innovation, growth, and competitive advantage.

Traditional infrastructure has struggled to keep pace with this exponential data expansion, particularly as automated systems, connected sensors, and advanced AI models accelerate the rate of data generation. Major barriers to AI implementation include data security and privacy, cited by 34% of decision-makers, and a shortage of skilled personnel, affecting 27% of organizations. These challenges are prompting U.S. firms to seek service partners for AI-ready hybrid clouds. The rapid adoption of generative AI and large language models (LLMs) has created unprecedented demand for data processing and storage, making data centers more critical than ever. Service providers are stepping in to help organizations address challenges related to scalability, high-speed connectivity, and regulatory compliance.

According to Anay Nawathe, ISG cloud delivery lead for the Americas, “AI is transforming the digital landscape, and data centers are at the heart of these changes. Service providers are delivering the tools and expertise enterprises need to build infrastructure that supports AI.” These providers are assisting companies in virtualizing workloads, migrating them to cloud or colocation data centers, and managing them with cloud-agnostic tools, thereby improving scalability, security, and efficiency while also helping to reduce IT spending through FinOps frameworks.
