Eletrobras Expands Enterprise AI Integration with C3 AI for Enhanced Grid Resilience Across Latin America

TLDR: Eletrobras, Latin America’s largest power utility, is significantly expanding its partnership with C3 AI to deploy advanced enterprise AI solutions across its extensive transmission network. This initiative, part of the ‘Eletro.ia’ program, aims to revolutionize real-time operations, accelerate fault detection and resolution, and bolster grid stability and compliance throughout Brazil. The deployment includes C3 AI Grid Intelligence for critical infrastructure monitoring and C3 Generative AI for streamlining operational reporting.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Eletrobras, Latin America’s foremost power and utility provider, has announced a major expansion of its collaboration with C3 AI (NYSE: AI), a leading enterprise AI application software company. This strategic partnership will see the deployment of C3 AI’s advanced Grid Intelligence and Generative AI solutions across all of Eletrobras’ transmission assets, marking a significant step in modernizing Brazil’s power infrastructure.

The initiative builds upon a successful initial deployment in 2024, where C3 AI Grid Intelligence was implemented across 10 substations. Following this proven success, Eletrobras is now scaling the solution company-wide as a core component of its ‘Eletro.ia’ program, launched in 2024 with the ambitious goal of applying AI at scale across the entire organization.

C3 AI Grid Intelligence is designed to provide operators with real-time context, dramatically accelerating fault response and enhancing grid stability and compliance. This technology is capable of identifying alarms and clustering faults, determining affected equipment and substations, and prompting decision-making intelligence to mitigate issues in less than 10 seconds. This represents a substantial improvement over previous processes that could take several minutes to hours, significantly boosting grid resilience in the face of rising demand and volatility in global energy systems.

In addition to Grid Intelligence, Eletrobras will leverage C3 Generative AI to streamline operational reporting. This application aims to automate and simplify report generation, freeing operators to concentrate on higher-impact tasks and critical decision-making.

Lucas Pinz, Director of Innovation and Technology at Eletrobras, emphasized the strategic importance of the ‘Eletro.ia’ program: “In 2024, Eletrobras launched a program called Eletro.ia with the goal of applying AI at scale across the entire company. Through this program, Eletrobras is leveraging cutting-edge AI and data solutions to unlock efficiencies across our network and better serve our customers throughout Brazil.”

Pablo Flores, Executive Manager of Protection, Automation, and Control of Operation Systems at Eletrobras, highlighted the practical benefits of the partnership: “C3 AI’s ability to support a real-time operations center with an operations-ready platform and end-user focused solutions was core to our decision to partner with C3 AI. Eletrobras is modernizing critical network monitoring processes, allowing us to effectively and quickly respond to incidents to ensure grid stability and availability.”

Thomas M. Siebel, Chairman and CEO of C3 AI, underscored the broader impact of the collaboration: “Global energy expansion and resilience remains a primary company focus for C3 AI. Our work with Eletrobras reinforces C3 AI’s position as the trusted Enterprise AI provider for critical infrastructure and highlights the power of our platform in delivering operational transformation across the global energy sector.”
