EDB Postgres AI Validated as Premier Platform for Generative and Agentic AI by Independent Benchmarks

TLDR: New benchmark studies by Everest Group and McKnight Consulting Group confirm EDB Postgres AI as a leading platform for generative and agentic AI, offering significant reductions in complexity and total cost of ownership, while accelerating deployment for sovereign, production-grade AI applications.

WILMINGTON, Del. – EnterpriseDB (EDB), a prominent Postgres data and AI company, has announced the findings from two independent benchmark studies conducted by Everest Group and McKnight Consulting Group. These reports, released on July 30, 2025, validate EDB Postgres AI as a superior platform for deploying sovereign, production-grade, agentic AI solutions.

The benchmark studies highlight several key advantages of EDB Postgres AI. According to the findings, the platform enables faster deployment of AI applications, reducing development and operational complexity by an impressive 67%. Furthermore, it delivers substantial Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) savings of up to 50% when compared to do-it-yourself (DIY) hybrid and cloud-based approaches, including those offered by AWS.

Nancy Hensley, CPO for EDB, emphasized the significance of these results, stating, “This ability to get time to value while reducing costs is the nirvana for enterprises looking to deliver on the promise of agentic and GenAI with their own secure, production-ready intelligent apps and agents.” The research confirms that EDB Postgres AI provides a fully integrated and sovereign intelligent platform specifically designed for modern AI workloads, such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), facilitating faster development, lower costs, and complete operational control across diverse hybrid environments.

William McKnight, president of McKnight Consulting Group, further elaborated on the platform’s capabilities: “EDB Postgres AI is purpose-built for the demands of agentic and generative AI—especially where sovereignty and cost control matter. Compared to DIY cloud approaches, our research found EDB Postgres AI to be 3x faster to production, 51% lower in total cost, and far simpler to manage at scale. That’s what makes it a standout choice for operationalizing RAG and other advanced AI use cases.”

Mukesh Ranjan, vice president at Everest Group, noted the challenges enterprises face with data and AI complexity, particularly in hybrid and regulated environments, underscoring the timely relevance of EDB’s solution.

EDB’s own global research, spanning 13 countries, indicates that over 90% of major global enterprises anticipate becoming their own sovereign AI and data platforms within the next three years. However, only 13% are currently succeeding with agentic and generative AI deployments. EDB Postgres AI aims to address this gap by transforming core operational data into an AI-ready asset, allowing for the setup of AI pipelines with just five lines of code, thereby accelerating AI projects from concept to production three times faster while reducing costs by 50%.

EDB Postgres AI is described as the industry’s first open, enterprise-grade sovereign data and AI platform, offering security, compliance, and scalability across on-premises and cloud environments. Built on Postgres, it unifies transactional, analytical, and AI workloads, enabling organizations to operationalize their data and large language models (LLMs) while maintaining control over sovereign environments. The platform boasts up to 99.999% availability, hybrid management capabilities, and a built-in AI factory, supported by a global partner network.
