EDB and NVIDIA Partner to Propel Enterprise AI Adoption with Enhanced Data Sovereignty

TLDR: EnterpriseDB (EDB) has announced a strategic integration of its EDB Postgres AI platform with NVIDIA’s accelerated computing and AI software, including NVIDIA NIM microservices. This collaboration aims to significantly accelerate the development and deployment of generative and agentic AI applications for enterprises, emphasizing data sovereignty, performance, and cost efficiency.

WILMINGTON, Del. – EnterpriseDB (EDB), a leading sovereign AI and data company, has unveiled a significant collaboration with NVIDIA, integrating NVIDIA’s accelerated computing and AI software into its EDB Postgres AI platform. This partnership is set to revolutionize enterprise AI adoption by enabling faster deployment, superior performance, and comprehensive data control across diverse environments.

The announcement comes as a response to the current landscape of enterprise AI, where only 13% of major global enterprises are reportedly achieving sustainable return on investment from their agentic and generative AI initiatives. Despite this, a substantial 90% of enterprises plan to establish their own AI and data platforms within the next three years, driven by the critical importance they place on sovereign AI. According to global research conducted for EDB in May 2025, this focus on sovereign AI is crucial for overcoming fragmented infrastructure and gaining control over data and AI models, which are key barriers to widespread adoption and long-term competitive advantage.

EDB Postgres AI, now fortified with NVIDIA accelerated computing and NVIDIA AI Enterprise components, empowers organizations to build and derive value from AI and data platforms utilizing PostgreSQL. This integration transforms EDB Postgres AI into a secure, high-performance platform for deploying generative and agentic AI with enterprise-grade governance, observability, and cost efficiency.

The collaboration promises measurable outcomes for customers, including a 2-3x throughput improvement for data embedding tasks and a 1.5-2x throughput improvement for retrieval performance. Furthermore, enterprises can bring new, sovereign AI applications into production up to 3x faster, while also realizing significant cost savings, with a potential 6x reduction in total cost of ownership compared to legacy systems. This software-defined performance also drives substantial cost savings compared to cloud-native AI stacks.

Nancy Hensley, Chief Product Officer of EDB, emphasized the strategic importance of this development, stating, “Sovereignty is now the defining factor in enterprise AI success. By integrating NVIDIA AI software into EDB Postgres AI, we’re giving customers the performance and control they need to build secure, agentic AI solutions on their terms, wherever their data lives.” Jozef de Vries, Chief Product Engineering Officer at EDB, added, “With our intuitive no-code interface, we’re empowering a broader range of users to rapidly build and safely launch generative AI applications into production faster than ever before.”

As an NVIDIA NPN partner, EDB gains direct access to NVIDIA’s latest software innovations and best practices, ensuring continuous optimization across the AI factory. The integration leverages NVIDIA AI software, including NVIDIA NIM microservices and NVIDIA NeMo Retriever, to ingest multimodal enterprise data and facilitate AI model processing. This enables no-code development of agentic AI applications with sovereign control and production-grade performance.

EDB’s approach aligns with a broader industry shift towards platform sovereignty, granting enterprises control over their data, infrastructure, and model deployment. Built on Postgres and designed for native Kubernetes operation, EDB Postgres AI is uniquely architected to support secure, compliant, and scalable agentic AI development for real-world use cases. The platform ensures compliance with standards like PCI DSS and SOC 2 through features such as Transparent Data Encryption and hardened containers, which are critical for regulated industries.
