TLDR: Commerce.com, formerly BigCommerce, is spearheading a transformative shift in digital commerce by integrating AI agents into its platform. The company reported strong Q3 2025 revenues of $86 million, attributing growth to AI-driven products and strategic partnerships with tech giants like PayPal, Microsoft, Google, Stripe, and Perplexity. CEO Travis Hess emphasizes that AI is fundamentally reshaping product discovery, evaluation, and purchasing, moving towards an “intelligent, composable and agentic” future.
Commerce.com is leading a significant transformation in the digital commerce landscape, driven by the increasing adoption of AI agents. This shift is fundamentally altering how consumers engage with online shopping experiences.
On November 6, 2025, Commerce.com, previously known as BigCommerce, announced its third-quarter earnings for 2025. The company reported a revenue of $86 million, which was in line with its guidance. Notably, non-GAAP operating income reached $8 million, surpassing profitability expectations, and operating cash flow stood at just under $11 million. Annual recurring revenue (ARR) grew to $356 million, a 2% increase year-over-year, with 76% of this revenue originating from enterprise clients. The average revenue per enterprise account also saw a healthy rise of 7% to $46,800. Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, Commerce.com projects revenues to be between $87.8 million and $92.8 million.
Travis Hess, CEO of Commerce.com, underscored the critical role of artificial intelligence in this evolution. He stated, “AI is reshaping how customers discover, evaluate and purchase products.” Hess further articulated his vision for the future of commerce, describing it as “intelligent, composable and agentic.” He anticipates a market where “product discovery begins with a prompt, not a homepage,” emphasizing that the quality of data will be the decisive factor for merchants to “get seen, chosen and purchased.”
Central to Commerce.com’s AI strategy is Feedonomics, its proprietary data-syndication engine. This technology is designed to efficiently distribute enriched product data across a wide array of platforms, including established players like Google and Meta, as well as burgeoning AI channels such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity.
Complementing this, the company’s Makeswift tool empowers marketers to develop and update AI-optimized site experiences in real-time, eliminating the need for coding expertise.
Commerce.com has also forged strategic partnerships to solidify its position in the AI-driven commerce world. A notable collaboration with PayPal designates Commerce.com as a key partner in PayPal’s new agentic-commerce initiative. Hess highlighted the importance of these alliances, remarking, “Our partnerships with Perplexity, Microsoft, Google, Stripe and PayPal are examples of how we’re building for an agent-led world where intelligent commerce needs to be fast, adaptive and always on.”
In terms of platform expansion, new enterprise-grade tools are being made accessible to a broader market. The Feedonomics Surface, launched in Q3, allows merchants to directly manage and optimize product feeds for Google and Meta from their control panels. Additionally, two new Shopify applications are set to extend the company’s data management capabilities across various ecosystems.
A significant upcoming development is the launch of “BigCommerce Payments Powered by PayPal” in early 2026. This integration will embed comprehensive payment functionalities directly into the Commerce.com platform, enabling merchants to seamlessly manage balances, payouts, and currency conversions. Daniel Lentz, CFO, noted that this integration is expected to generate “upside through payments economics and deeper merchant engagement.”
During a question-and-answer session with analysts, executives indicated that the strongest demand trends are centered around AI readiness and data strategy. They revealed that “several very large brand manufacturers and retailers” are currently participating in closed beta programs focused on AI-readiness in preparation for the upcoming holiday season. Hess reiterated that Commerce.com’s competitive advantage in AI-driven discovery lies in the superior quality of its structured and unstructured data, and its efficient syndication into “answer engines per their spec.”
