Deloitte Bolsters Audit Platform with Advanced AI Capabilities

TLDR: Deloitte has significantly enhanced its global cloud-based Omnia Audit and Assurance platform by integrating new generative and agentic AI features. These advancements aim to streamline audit processes, improve efficiency, and provide deeper insights, reflecting the increasing complexity of digital business environments. The new tools assist with documentation review, financial statement navigation, data extraction, communication drafting, and proactive risk management.

Deloitte has announced a major expansion of its artificial intelligence capabilities within its global cloud-based Omnia Audit and Assurance platform. The firm is rolling out a suite of new features that leverage both generative and agentic AI technologies, designed to revolutionize the audit process by enhancing efficiency, quality, and trust.

These strategic enhancements come as businesses navigate increasingly complex digital landscapes. François Lamontagne, Audit and Assurance Leader for Deloitte Caribbean and Bermuda, emphasized that ‘the enhancements reflect the growing complexity of digital businesses.’ He added, ‘Our audit practice has recognised the optimised benefits of investment in our audit technology, to incorporate AI tools to help drive quality and trust in our continued elevated service to our clients.’

The new generative AI-enabled features offer a wide array of functionalities. Auditors can now utilize tools that review audit documentation for clarity and consistency, streamline the navigation of financial statements, and efficiently extract and summarize data across various documents. The platform also includes capabilities for drafting audit-related communications and memos, delivering faster answers to complex research questions, and proactively flagging potential risk events by analyzing external data sources.

Laurie Mernett, Audit Innovation Leader for Deloitte Caribbean and Bermuda, highlighted the transformative impact of this technology, stating, ‘Transformation is at the heart of our audit innovation.’ She further noted that ‘the technology would continue to reshape the profession.’

Looking ahead, Deloitte is integrating intelligent AI agents into the Omnia ecosystem. These digital specialists are designed to complete specific tasks, retain relevant information, and collaborate with other agents within an interconnected system. Anna Burns, Deloitte Bermuda’s Audit and Assurance Leader, explained the profound impact: ‘The integration of AI into our processes strengthens how we analyse and interpret data. This empowers our professionals to focus on delivering deeper insights and trend analysis, which enhances the quality of our audit committee interactions.’

Deloitte’s commitment to AI innovation is evident in its substantial investments. The firm has deployed purpose-specific Large Language Models (LLMs) and chatbots to support its nearly 85,000 audit and assurance professionals globally. Additionally, an employee-wide Generative AI chatbot has processed over 3 million prompts in its first year of operation, demonstrating widespread adoption and utility within the organization.
