DataSnipper and Microsoft Collaborate to Advance AI Agents in Audit Sector

TLDR: Amsterdam-based unicorn DataSnipper has partnered with Microsoft to integrate advanced AI agents into the audit sector, aiming to revolutionize financial workflows and enhance decision-making through autonomous AI systems.

Amsterdam-based unicorn DataSnipper, a leading intelligent automation platform for audit and finance, is deepening its collaboration with Microsoft to introduce sophisticated AI agents into the auditing landscape. This strategic alliance aims to transform traditional audit processes by leveraging cutting-edge artificial intelligence to automate complex tasks and provide deeper insights.

The move follows discussions and insights shared at DataSnipper Connect ’25, a significant two-day event held in Amsterdam in June 2025, which brought together prominent audit, finance, and technology leaders. A key highlight of the conference was a presentation by Adir Ron, Cloud and AI Director from Microsoft, who elaborated on the emergence of ‘agentic’ AI systems. Ron emphasized a shift from mere language models to reasoning models, which possess the capability to understand cognition and execute tasks with increasing autonomy. He articulated a future where AI agents work synergistically with human professionals, automating workflows and fostering innovation within finance teams.

DataSnipper’s commitment to integrating AI into auditing is evident in its mission to empower auditors, allowing them to focus on strategic analysis rather than repetitive, manual data verification. The company’s platform already embeds automation directly into Excel, enabling auditors to swiftly extract and reconcile data from various documents, significantly reducing the time spent on laborious tasks. This focus on efficiency and accuracy is crucial in an industry grappling with high rates of auditor burnout and the increasing volume of unstructured data.

Vidya Peters, CEO of DataSnipper, has consistently highlighted the importance of responsible leadership in the adoption of AI within finance. At Connect ’25, she shared findings from DataSnipper’s 2025 AI Report, which revealed that while 66% of finance professionals use AI daily, fewer than half feel adequately supported by leadership. Peters stressed the necessity of human verification of AI outputs, a principle central to DataSnipper’s product development, to mitigate real-world consequences of unchecked AI.

This collaboration with Microsoft underscores DataSnipper’s ongoing efforts to build a comprehensive AI-powered audit ecosystem. The company, which achieved unicorn status after a $100 million Series B funding round led by Index Ventures in February 2024, has been rapidly expanding its global footprint, serving over 400,000 auditors across 125 countries, including major firms like Deloitte, KPMG, Ernst & Young, and PwC. By integrating advanced AI agents, DataSnipper aims to further enhance productivity, reduce errors, and enable auditors to take on more complex and strategic assignments, ultimately redefining the future of audit and finance.
