New York / Sharjah – Crescent Enterprises, the UAE-headquartered diversified business, and MIT Solve, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology initiative dedicated to technology-led social impact, jointly announced the recipients of the inaugural Crescent Enterprises AI for Social Innovation Prize. The prestigious award, totaling $100,000 in equity-free funding, was unveiled on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly and Climate Week in New York, recognizing four exceptional teams leveraging artificial intelligence to tackle pressing global issues.
The prize aims to support real-world AI solutions that demonstrate significant potential for social impact. In addition to the financial grant, the winning teams will gain access to MIT Solve’s comprehensive nine-month Solver support program, which includes mentorship, strategic advice, and engagement with MIT’s extensive global networks.
The four distinguished recipients of the 2025 prize are:
I Read Arabic: Focused on advancing Arabic literacy at scale through engaging, high-quality digital learning platforms.
Smart Scope® CX: Dedicated to bringing low-cost, AI-assisted cervical cancer screening directly to the point of care, enhancing accessibility and early detection.
Littoral: Utilizing coastal data to develop early warning and planning tools, fostering climate-resilient shores.
Visilant: Working to expand affordable eye screening services, enabling more individuals to receive timely care and improve their quality of life.

This announcement follows Crescent Enterprises’ prior collaboration with MIT Solve, including co-hosting the first MIT Challenge Clinic in Arabic. This initiative was designed to integrate Arab entrepreneurs into Solve’s global networks and equip them with the tools to scale AI-driven innovations more effectively. The 2025 Global Challenges by MIT Solve collectively distributed over $1.5 million in prize funding to 31 Solver teams, selected from a record 2,900 applicants spanning 130 countries, underscoring the global reach and impact of these innovation efforts.
