Coder Unveils Blink: Accelerating AI Agent Development and Deployment for Developers

TLDR: Coder has launched Blink, an open-source command-line interface (CLI) and cloud service designed to simplify and accelerate the creation, deployment, and management of AI agents and chatbots. Unveiled during Cloudflare Connect, Blink aims to address the high failure rate of in-house AI agent projects by providing a comprehensive developer engine that supports intelligent, event-driven agents, starting with Slack integration.

AUSTIN, Texas – October 16, 2025 – Coder, a leading provider of developer infrastructure, today announced the early access launch of Blink, a groundbreaking platform poised to revolutionize how developers build and deploy artificial intelligence agents. Unveiled during the Cloudflare Connect event, Blink is positioned as the fastest and most efficient solution for creating, shipping, and running AI agents and chatbots, initially focusing on integration with Slack.

The introduction of Blink comes at a critical time, as the demand for AI agents continues to surge due to their potential for personalization and efficiency across both business and consumer applications. However, industry research indicates a significant challenge: a substantial portion of in-house AI agent projects fail to reach production status. Gartner, a prominent research and advisory company, warns that over 40% of agentic AI projects are expected to be abandoned by 2027, primarily due to high costs or execution complexities. These failures are often attributed to skillset gaps and technical hurdles, including intricate data integration and system complexity.

Coder’s Blink directly addresses these pain points. The platform comprises an open-source command-line interface (CLI) for building agents and Blink Cloud, a hosted service designed for seamless deployment and collaborative sharing across development teams. Unlike conventional coding assistants, Blink functions as a complete developer engine, offering the full runtime, infrastructure, and essential developer tools required to construct intelligent, event-driven agents that can integrate directly with real-world systems.

Kyle Carberry, co-founder at Coder, highlighted the existing difficulties in the field, stating, “It’s surprisingly difficult to build and personalize even the most basic AI agents, such as a SlackBot or a GitHub code reviewer.” Carberry emphasized Blink’s approach to simplifying this process: “Blink brings AI to the tools where chat already happens and makes development simple: no complex workflow builders, just agents as code.”

Built with developers in mind, Blink champions an open-source philosophy, providing a code-first approach that avoids platform lock-in and unnecessary overhead. Its open-source agent development framework operates entirely from the terminal, enabling developers to rapidly build and refine agents with quick local feedback loops. This allows users to test, adjust, and validate an agent’s behavior in real-time before optional deployment to the cloud.

Initially, Blink supports Slack, meeting developers in a widely used communication environment. Coder has also indicated plans for deeper integration with GitHub and other development environments in the near future. The development of Blink was informed by extensive community feedback and insights gained from Coder’s experience in building and supporting innovative open-source and proprietary AI development infrastructure solutions, including their flagship enterprise development environments that already facilitate AI and tooling workloads with GPU access, modular templates, and secure coding boundaries.
