In a recent blog post, Victor Foulk, Vice President of Emerging Technologies; Douglas Vargo, Vice President of Consulting Services for U.S. Operations; and Karim Fadel, Vice President of Consulting Services at CGI, detailed why organizations should view AI not as a standalone technology but as an integral component of a connected network of capabilities.
The authors highlighted that adopting an ecosystem approach to AI integration has yielded tangible results, with organizations implementing a holistic strategy reporting 6.6 times higher generative AI maturity. Furthermore, a holistic approach to data management alone contributed to a five-fold increase in generative AI maturity.
The proposed AI ecosystem is structured around six interconnected pillars. The foundational pillar is high-quality data, which is crucial as the authors warned that ‘even the most powerful models [will] fall short’ without trusted, timely, and interoperable data.
Another critical pillar is workforce readiness. The CGI officials stressed that AI technology should augment human capabilities rather than replace them. To prepare for successful AI implementation, organizations must invest in reskilling employees, introduce new roles where necessary, and be open to leadership changes.
