Calabrio Unveils Agent Assist: A New AI Copilot for Empowering Contact Center Professionals

TLDR: Calabrio has launched “Agent Assist,” a next-generation AI-powered copilot designed to empower human agents in customer service roles. This tool aims to enhance agent autonomy, reduce stress, and improve operational efficiency by providing self-service capabilities and real-time support, ultimately leading to better customer experiences and lower attrition rates.

In a significant move to revolutionize the contact center landscape, Calabrio has introduced “Agent Assist,” an innovative AI Copilot aimed at empowering human agents. Launched on October 22, 2025, this new solution addresses long-standing challenges within customer service, such as high attrition, stressful work environments, and the increasing complexity of hybrid operations. The core philosophy behind Agent Assist is to provide agents with greater autonomy and intelligent support, transforming their role from a point of stress into a valuable asset.

Magnus Geverts, VP of Product Marketing at Calabrio, emphasized the growing importance of agent well-being, stating, “agents and their wants and needs are becoming more important. They need to handle the toughest calls, and we need to take care of them.” Agent Assist is described as a “ChatGPT-type of chat for the agent,” enabling them to perform self-service tasks, such as requesting time off, and receive automated, real-time responses. These interactions are carefully governed by resource planning guardrails, ensuring compliance and maintaining service levels while streamlining previously cumbersome approval processes.

The integration of AI at the core of workforce management is a game-changer for enterprises still grappling with rigid, legacy systems. By combining autonomy, intelligence, and flexibility, Agent Assist helps organizations manage and outpace the rapid changes in their daily operations. This empowerment leads to tangible benefits, including reduced turnover costs and improved service outcomes. A retail organization partnering with Calabrio, for instance, found that inflexibility with scheduling was a primary reason for agent departures, highlighting the critical need for tools like Agent Assist.

It is included for all Calabrio ONE WFM customers, underscoring Calabrio’s commitment to agent-centric AI solutions. This development aligns with a broader industry trend where AI copilots are becoming integral to enhancing productivity and experience across various enterprise functions, as seen with Microsoft’s expanding Copilot capabilities in Dynamics 365 and other business applications, aiming to turn support agents into “super agents” by reducing time spent on ramp-ups, handoffs, and wrap-ups with conversation summaries.
