Camera Intelligence, formerly known as Alice Camera, has officially unveiled Caira, a groundbreaking ‘AI-native’ Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera. This innovative device is set to redefine content creation by being the first interchangeable lens mirrorless camera to directly integrate Google’s next-generation generative AI model, ‘Nano Banana’. The Caira camera is designed to attach seamlessly to an iPhone via MagSafe, leveraging the smartphone’s capabilities while offering professional-grade optics.
At the core of Caira’s appeal is its ability to perform real-time, advanced generative image editing directly on the camera. This moves beyond traditional computational photography, enabling ‘in-the-moment creation and editing’ that was previously confined to complex post-production software on laptops. Camera Intelligence states that this integration ‘ushers in a new era of on-camera ‘generative editing,’ for spectacular real-time adjustments’.
Vishal Kumar, CEO of Camera Intelligence, emphasized the necessity for such a tool in today’s demanding content landscape. “Producing engaging, high-quality content is a necessity for solo creators and small businesses — but they are already stretched thin and juggling multiple business demands. Content creation tools are fragmented, and users producing social media content for the first time struggle with steep learning curves for both mirrorless camera operation and editing software,” Kumar explained. He further added, “With Caira, we are not just launching a new camera; we are introducing a new, intelligent creative partner… By integrating Nano Banana directly into Caira, we are collapsing traditional content creation workflows; we aim to fundamentally shift how creators capture, edit, and share our world.” Kumar described the experience as truly feeling like ‘magic’.
Caira is targeted at creators and businesses seeking high-end image quality, extensive creative freedom, and a streamlined, accessible imaging tool. The company, which pivoted to AI-based imaging technology after its initial Alice Camera project in 2020, highlights the significant advancements in AI since then, making the capabilities of Google’s ‘Nano Banana’ model far more sophisticated than what was previously imaginable.
Google’s ‘Nano Banana’ model, part of the Gemini 2.5 Flash ecosystem and powered by DeepMind technology, is a cutting-edge AI image generation and editing tool. Its features include conversational editing, allowing users to refine images using natural language prompts; multi-image composition, enabling the blending of up to three images; and character consistency, which maintains the same characters across multiple generations or edits. Recent updates to Nano Banana, rolled out in late September 2025, also introduced enhanced aspect ratio support, allowing for seamless specification of formats like vertical (9:16), square (1:1), wide (16:9), and custom ratios. The model is known for its high-fidelity image creation, excelling in photorealistic scenes, stylized illustrations, and product mockups with outputs up to 1024×1024 pixels.
