TLDR: Brainfish, an Australian AI customer experience startup, has successfully raised $6.4 million USD in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Prosus Ventures. Brainfish, a pioneering Australian AI customer experience startup, announced today it has secured $6.4 million USD in Pre-Series A funding. The round was spearheaded by Prosus Ventures, with additional participation from existing investors Peak XV’s Surge and Macdoch Ventures. This latest capital injection elevates Brainfish’s total funding to $10 million since its inception in 2022.
The new funding is earmarked for significant strategic initiatives, including scaling engineering efforts, accelerating product development, and broadening the deployment of its advanced AI and machine-learning capabilities across global enterprises. A key focus of this expansion is the establishment of a U.S.-based headquarters and team, aimed at bolstering go-to-market strategies and supporting the company’s rapid global growth.
Founded by CEO Daniel Kimber, Brainfish specializes in reinventing user interaction with digital products through its innovative Ambient AI agents. These agents leverage computer vision and contextual intelligence to deliver seamless, automated assistance for software products. The platform distinguishes itself by combining generative AI with computer vision, enabling proactive, contextual help the moment a user encounters an issue, thereby eliminating the need for slow, disconnected chatbots.
Kimber elaborated on the company’s vision, stating, ‘Customer support isn’t broken—it’s outdated. It waits for problems and tickets, when support should be seamlessly embedded inside the product. That’s why we built Brainfish. Our ambient AI agents, fused with computer vision, don’t wait for problems. They watch how people actually use a product, understand where they struggle, and deliver the right answer before they even ask. This funding fuels our next chapter: scaling globally, establishing and growing our U.S. presence, and making invisible, intelligent support the new standard for digital products.’
Since its launch in 2023, Brainfish has rapidly scaled, now serving over 5 million users worldwide, including high-growth startups like Relevance AI and ASX-listed Mad Paws. The company boasts an impressive 400% year-over-year growth, with active users spanning Australia, Asia, the UK, and the U.S. Early adopters have reported significant improvements, including sub-second response times, a 70% to 90% reduction in support tickets, faster resolutions, and a 30% to 40% increase in customer satisfaction, with time-to-value measured in days rather than months.
Sachin Bhanot, Head of SEA & ANZ Investments at Prosus Ventures, commented on the investment, ‘Brainfish is redefining what modern customer support can look like – intelligent, instant, and deeply aligned with how users actually engage with digital products. As more businesses, especially SMEs, turn to AI to deliver better customer experience at scale, Brainfish stands out as a category-defining solution. Their ability to combine real-time support with deep behavioral insights is a game-changer, and we’re excited to support their journey.’
