TLDR: Boomi has launched a new native Change Data Capture (CDC) capability for SAP data, enabling real-time, code-free data integration from SAP ERP/ECC 6.0, S/4, and Business Warehouse into cloud data platforms. This agent-based approach offers a competitive alternative to SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC), significantly enhancing agility, efficiency, and support for AI and analytics initiatives for SAP customers.
Boomi, a prominent player in AI-driven automation, has announced the general availability of its native Change Data Capture (CDC) capability for SAP data, marking a significant development in enterprise data management. This new offering positions itself as a compelling alternative to SAP’s own Business Technology Platform (BTP) for real-time data transformation.
The newly introduced capability allows existing SAP customers to seamlessly import data from various SAP systems, including ERP/ECC 6.0, S/4, and Business Warehouse (SAP BW), directly into any cloud data lake or warehouse without the need for custom coding. This “no-code” approach is designed to democratize data access and accelerate modernization efforts.
According to Mani Gill, Boomi’s VP of Product for Data and AI, “This launch is an important milestone for SAP customers looking to modernize their data infrastructure.” He further elaborated, “By combining multi-table ingestion, integrated CDC and schema-aware transformation, we are unlocking SAP data for real-time decision making without the need for specialized expertise or custom development.”
The real-time access to critical SAP data facilitated by Boomi’s solution is expected to empower ERP users to respond more rapidly to business insights, significantly improve operational agility, and provide robust support for emerging AI and analytics initiatives. This aligns with a broader industry trend towards agent-based transformation, which Boomi aims to drive for its extensive customer base of over 25,000 and network of more than 800 partners.
A key advantage highlighted is the ability to capture SAP data in minutes without requiring ABAP coding, thereby simplifying the modernization of analytics for existing SAP customers. By integrating both SAP and non-SAP data in real-time, businesses can drastically reduce the time it takes to derive insights for both AI and traditional business intelligence use cases.
Steve Lucas, CEO at Boomi, underscored the critical aspect of data governance in this new era of intelligent systems. During a keynote speech in London, he emphasized “the particular importance of governance when dealing with AI agents and their downstream data processing.” This highlights a commitment not just to rapid data provision but also to responsible data handling.

Boomi’s move is seen as opening “another data channel in the SAP universe,” creating considerable competition for SAP’s Business Data Cloud (BDC) and its Databricks extension. The market will closely watch to see which platform ultimately emerges as the preferred choice for the final ERP data platform. The broader context also suggests a growing interest in “Agentic AI in the Starting Blocks,” indicating a shift towards more autonomous and intelligent systems in enterprise environments.
