Beatoven.ai, a Bengaluru-based artificial intelligence (AI) startup specializing in music generation, officially launched its first in-house AI model, ‘Maestro,’ on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. This innovative music model is capable of generating instrumental tracks across a diverse range of genres based on simple text prompts. The company emphasizes that Maestro stands out due to its ‘fully licensed and fairly trained’ approach, built upon official partnerships with various rightsholders and a unique revenue-sharing component for artists.
The development of Maestro directly addresses growing concerns within the music industry regarding the use of unlicensed content for AI model training. Unlike other AI music platforms such as Suno and Udio, which have faced lawsuits from major record labels like Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony Music Entertainment over copyright infringement, Beatoven.ai has proactively secured partnerships for its training data.
Maestro’s training involved collaborations with prominent entities including Rightsify, Soundtrack Loops, Symphonic Music, Bobby Cole, Vadi Sound, and Pro Sound Effects. This extensive network of partnerships ensures that the model operates on a foundation of legally acquired and ethically sourced music.
Mansoor Rahimat Khan, co-founder and CEO of Beatoven.ai, articulated the company’s vision, stating, ‘Human creativity and AI can go hand in hand. Our vision at Beatoven.ai has always been to create a model that generates the world’s most interesting sounds.’ He further added, ‘Most tools try to mimic humans, whereas AI should push human creativity forward by generating what we’ve never heard before. Hallucinations in foundation models are a feature in music, not a bug.’
Crucially, Beatoven.ai has partnered with the rights management platform Musical AI. This collaboration enables the tracking of which licensed songs contribute to each generated track, facilitating the accurate distribution of ongoing royalty payments to artists, composers, and rightsholders. The company proudly holds a ‘Fairly Trained’ certification, underscoring its commitment to equitable compensation for musicians contributing their work.

Beyond text-to-music generation, Maestro supports multimodal inputs, allowing creators to generate music from text, audio, or video references. Users can further customize tracks using intuitive text-based editing features to modify instruments, genre, tempo, or emotion. The platform has already seen significant adoption, with over 1.5 million creators generating more than 6 million tracks. Users receive a non-exclusive perpetual license for downloaded tracks, enabling them to monetize their content without copyright concerns, though Beatoven.ai retains ownership of the generated music.
