Balance, a leading B2B commerce infrastructure platform, announced on October 29, 2025, the debut of its innovative AI communication tool, the Balance Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server. Currently in beta, this new offering is designed to revolutionize B2B transactions by enabling artificial intelligence to seamlessly communicate with Balance’s existing payments, credit, and receivables APIs.
The MCP Server empowers AI agents utilized by customers to securely access and act upon live data through natural language prompts. This functionality allows for a wide range of automated tasks, from checking a buyer’s credit status to generating qualification links, all without manual intervention. The integration aims to significantly enhance the efficiency of B2B operations.
According to Balance, the tool provides merchants with the ability to perform critical actions such as reviewing payment history, accessing open invoices, or analyzing order trends before customer interactions. Furthermore, it can trigger onboarding processes, invoicing, and payment links directly from a chat interface, streamlining the entire transaction lifecycle.
Bar Geron, co-founder and CEO of Balance, emphasized the strategic importance of this development, stating, “Agentic B2B commerce brings intelligence and autonomy to transactions between businesses.” He added, “As B2B eCommerce continues expanding, incorporating the latest developments in AI is crucial to ensure that merchants and marketplaces can keep up.” This highlights the company’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology to meet the evolving demands of the B2B landscape.
Yoni Shuster, Balance’s co-founder and chief technology officer, further elaborated on the benefits, noting, “B2B commerce shouldn’t be slowed down by outdated and disjointed systems.” Shuster believes that “When AI agents can handle data retrieval and operational tasks instantly, businesses sell more, suppliers get paid faster, and cash flow becomes more predictable.” This underscores the potential for the MCP Server to drive significant operational improvements and financial stability for businesses.
The broader impact of AI in B2B finance was also discussed by Nabil Manji, senior vice president and head of FinTech growth and financial partnerships at Worldpay. Manji commented, “AI is going to have an impact widely across what I would call the procure-to-pay process.” He specifically pointed to reconciliation as a prime candidate for AI application, stating, “If you think about reconciliation, it’s about as repetitive and unambiguous of a task as you can get in payments. … It’s a perfect use case for AI.” This perspective reinforces the growing trend of AI adoption across various facets of B2B financial operations.
