Auckland’s Inaugural Q&A Club to Explore AI’s Transformative Role in Creative Industries

TLDR: The newly launched Q&A Club: Auckland, a collaborative initiative by AKQA, The Tuesday Club, and Little Black Book, is set to host its inaugural event focusing on the disruptive impact of artificial intelligence on creativity, craft, and the future of the industry. The forum aims to foster a forward-thinking creative community in New Zealand.

Auckland is poised to become a hub for discussions on the future of creativity with the launch of the Q&A Club: Auckland, a new forum designed to address critical industry questions. Spearheaded by AKQA in collaboration with The Tuesday Club and Little Black Book (LBB), and sponsored by Sweetshop, the club’s inaugural event will delve into the profound implications of artificial intelligence on the creative landscape.

According to Brittney Rigby, LBB AUNZ managing editor, the partnership was a ‘no-brainer’ to regularly convene New Zealand’s creative community for debate and idea-sharing. Tara McKenty, AKQA CCO, envisions the series as a ‘modern day 17th-century London coffeehouse,’ emphasizing the vital need for creative communities to gather during times of disruption.

The Q&A Club: Auckland aims to cultivate an inclusive and forward-thinking creative community in Aotearoa, bringing together local and global voices. The primary focus of the inaugural fireside discussion will be the impact of AI on creativity, craft, and the industry’s future, specifically exploring how AI can serve creative professionals rather than ‘enslave’ them.

Nick Worthington, founder of The Tuesday Club, highlighted the club’s essence, stating, ‘It’s the Questions & Answers Club. Right now, I have more questions than answers, but that’s the whole point of getting a bunch of bright minds together at the Club.’ Colin Davis, Sweetshop’s global head of innovation, offered a perspective on AI’s potential, remarking, ‘AI isn’t a cost-cutting machine. It’s a liberation engine.’
