Andhra Pradesh Students Showcase Groundbreaking AI Innovations at Vijayawada Buildathon

Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – November 2, 2025 – Over 1,000 enthusiastic students from various institutions across Andhra Pradesh converged at the NRI Institute of Technology, Pothavarappadu, for a dynamic 48-hour Generative AI (GenAI) sprint. This event, a regional installment of the OpenAI Academy x NxtWave Buildathon series, served as a vibrant platform for young innovators to showcase their prowess in artificial intelligence.

The Buildathon saw 505 shortlisted teams meticulously developing AI-powered solutions aimed at tackling pressing real-world challenges. Their projects spanned critical sectors including healthcare, education, agriculture, retail, sustainability, and financial services, demonstrating a broad application of AI technologies.

This Vijayawada event is a significant component of a larger, nationwide OpenAI x NxtWave Buildathon series, which commenced in June 2025 and has already engaged over 50,000 participants across India. The series is set to culminate in a grand finale scheduled for January 2026, bringing together the brightest minds from across the country.

Students from prominent institutions such as Gitam (Visakhapatnam), IIIT Kurnool, Vishnu Institute of Technology (Bhimavaram), MVGR College of Engineering, and Mohan Babu University actively participated, underscoring the rich pool of emerging AI talent within the state.

Several projects garnered significant attention for their innovative approach and social relevance. Among the standout solutions were:

LegalMind: A platform designed to simplify complex legal documents, making them more accessible and understandable for citizens.

Virtual Fitting Room: An augmented reality (AR)-based application that allows users to visualize clothing on themselves virtually.

AI-FIR Vision: A sophisticated tool capable of converting video evidence into preliminary First Information Report (FIR) drafts, streamlining legal processes.

CyberShield: A robust solution focused on detecting and preventing phishing attacks.

BizNova: An AI-based business management tool specifically tailored to assist small shopkeepers.

Digital Krishi Officer: A chatbot providing real-time agricultural support and advice to farmers.

Other impactful projects, including PathFinders AI, VidyaVani, Financify, and HealthMate, also demonstrated strong potential for social good.
