TLDR: Adil Bhat, a computer science doctoral student from Kashmir, is developing a Generative AI platform to provide personalized education in regional languages like Urdu and Kashmiri. His initiative was showcased at a major investor event in Srinagar, attracting top venture capital firms and aligning with the government’s vision for inclusive AI development in the region.
Srinagar, November 1, 2025 – The serene banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar recently transformed into a vibrant hub of innovation as Kashmir hosted a significant investor outreach event. Young professionals from across the valley gathered at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) to pitch their startup ideas to a panel of 24 national venture capital (VC) funds. This marked the maiden trip for prominent investors, including IvyCap Ventures and Omnivore Agritech and Climate Sustainability Fund, keen to explore entrepreneurial talent in diverse sectors from technology to agriculture.
Among the standout presenters was Adil Bhat, a doctoral student in computer sciences, who unveiled a groundbreaking Generative AI project aimed at revolutionizing education. Bhat’s startup focuses on developing an AI interface capable of understanding and responding in regional languages such as Kashmiri and Urdu, thereby offering personalized learning experiences to students.
Bhat highlighted the critical need for such an innovation, stating, “Generative AI is the most transformative technology of this millennium, but it does not support regional languages. This will leave a large chunk of society behind, especially in places like ours. The language barrier will be more severe than the digital divide if it is not addressed.” His platform seeks to bridge this linguistic gap, enabling students to grasp complex topics without language-related misconceptions. The system is designed to track and identify these misconceptions in regional languages, providing teachers with timely insights to offer targeted assistance.
This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “All Inclusive” Artificial Intelligence, as Bhat emphasized, “That is where we are trying to bridge the linguistic barrier and live up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘All Inclusive’ Artificial Intelligence.”
The event, the first-ever ‘Self-Reliant India (SRI) Fund Outreach’, was organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) in collaboration with the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, through NSIC Venture Capital Fund Limited (NVCFL). The SRI Fund, developed under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, is a ₹50,000 crore scheme designed to promote growth-oriented MSMEs through a Mother Fund–Daughter Fund structure.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha lauded the event as a “new era” for startups and micro and small-scale industries in the region. Director of JKEDI, Khalid Jehangir, urged the visiting investors to commit to funding at least 10 startups to further motivate the local youth. While the central government has a project for developing the Indic Large Language Model, Bhat noted that it only partially supports Urdu, and current speech models still lack comprehensive Urdu support, underscoring the importance of his startup’s mission.
