Alibaba’s Lingyang Unveils Advanced AI Agents for Business Solutions

TLDR: Alibaba’s Lingyang has launched its first enterprise-grade AI agents, designed to automate and enhance various business scenarios through collaborative functions, marking a significant expansion in the company’s AI offerings for the business sector.

Alibaba-backed Lingyang has officially debuted its inaugural suite of enterprise-grade artificial intelligence (AI) agents, signaling a strategic expansion into the burgeoning business AI solutions market. The new agents, launched on July 23, 2025, are already being utilized by several companies, demonstrating their immediate applicability and value in real-world business environments. These advanced AI agents are engineered to support a diverse range of business scenarios through collaborative automation. They are designed to extend customer-facing roles beyond traditional functions, streamlining operations and enhancing efficiency across various departments. This move underscores Alibaba’s commitment to leveraging its technological prowess to empower enterprises in their digital transformation journeys.

The introduction of these enterprise AI agents comes at a time of significant growth and investment in the AI agent market. The global AI agent market was valued at US$5.43 billion in 2024 and is projected to experience substantial growth, potentially reaching approximately US$236 billion by 2034, up from around US$8 billion in 2025, according to consulting firm Precedence Research. This rapid expansion highlights the increasing recognition of AI agents as the future of business automation.

Alibaba has been actively investing in and developing AI capabilities. The company’s cloud unit recently led a funding round of over 100 million yuan (US$14 million) in BetterYeah AI, a Hangzhou-based AI start-up specializing in enterprise AI agents. BetterYeah AI focuses on developing agents that streamline office operations and management, such as online client services. This investment further solidifies Alibaba’s ambition to become a leading provider of enterprise AI services in China, particularly for small businesses. The company has previously pledged a substantial investment of US$53 billion in AI computing infrastructure over the next three years.

The new Lingyang AI agents are expected to provide “data-intelligence-as-a-service,” a concept Alibaba has coined to differentiate its offerings from traditional software-as-a-service (SaaS) models. This approach aims to assist enterprises in decision-making and improving operational efficiency by leveraging Alibaba’s extensive expertise in applying data intelligence to various sectors, including manufacturing, marketing, and services.
