AI-Powered Visual Storytelling Platform Gamma Secures $68 Million Series B Funding, Reaching $2.1 Billion Valuation

TLDR: Gamma, an AI tool developer specializing in visual storytelling, has successfully raised $68 million in a Series B funding round, bringing its valuation to an impressive $2.1 billion. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from existing investors. The company, known for its profitable growth and lean operations, aims to challenge traditional presentation software like PowerPoint and Google Slides with its innovative AI-driven platform.

San Francisco-based Gamma, a leading AI-powered visual storytelling platform, announced on November 10-11, 2025, the successful closure of a $68 million Series B funding round, catapulting its valuation to $2.1 billion. This significant investment was spearheaded by venture capital giant Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), with additional contributions from existing backers including Accel, Uncork Capital, Script Capital, South Park Commons, and Hustle Fund.

This latest funding round brings Gamma’s total capital raised to approximately $90 million, a remarkably efficient sum given its multi-billion dollar valuation. The company has distinguished itself in the competitive tech landscape by achieving sustained profitability for over two years, a rare feat for a rapidly scaling startup. Co-founder and CEO Grant Lee highlighted on X that Gamma has reached an impressive $100 million in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) and boasts a global user base of 70 million, including over 600,000 paying subscribers. This growth was achieved with a lean team of only about 50-52 employees, demonstrating exceptional capital efficiency.

Gamma’s platform, founded in late 2020 with its product launching in 2022, leverages artificial intelligence to transform rough ideas, outlines, or links into polished presentations, documents, and websites instantly, eliminating the need for extensive design experience. Its latest iteration, Gamma 3.0, features a built-in AI design agent that automates content creation, smart layouts, and collaborative workspaces. Users have collectively generated over 400 million assets on the platform, with more than 1 million new pieces of content created daily.

Sarah Wang, General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, expressed strong confidence in Gamma, stating, ‘At a16z, we’ve been using Gamma internally for market maps, social media posts, you name it. It has fundamentally changed how we communicate.’ CEO Grant Lee emphasized Gamma’s mission to democratize compelling communication: ‘Gamma is solving a universal problem – everyone has ideas worth sharing, but not everyone has the time or design skills to make them compelling. Gamma levels the playing field. This is the future of business storytelling.’

The new capital will be strategically deployed to accelerate product development, expand Gamma’s team—particularly by hiring more AI engineers—and enhance its enterprise offerings, which include a newly launched business account priced at $480 per user annually. The company also plans for international expansion and is reportedly considering acquisitions of competitors that have yet to achieve product-market fit, signaling an aggressive strategy to solidify its position against established players like Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides.
