TLDR: Adobe has rolled out significant AI-powered updates to Lightroom Classic, focusing on streamlining photographers’ workflows rather than pure generative AI. Key features include AI-assisted culling, advanced dust removal, and improved object selection, alongside broader Creative Cloud enhancements announced at Adobe MAX 2025.
Adobe has recently introduced a suite of AI-powered updates to its Lightroom Classic software, drawing praise for their practical implementation aimed at enhancing photographers’ efficiency. These additions, highlighted in a November 3, 2025 report by PetaPixel, represent a strategic shift towards integrating artificial intelligence to address specific workflow pain points, rather than solely focusing on fully generative AI capabilities.
Among the most impactful new features is the AI culling tool, currently in early access. This innovation is expected to be a significant boon for wedding and event photographers, who traditionally spend considerable time sifting through large volumes of images. By automating the initial selection and rejection process, the tool aims to drastically reduce a historically tedious aspect of the job. Complementing this, an AI-powered dust removal feature has been added, further automating another time-consuming editing task.
Beyond Lightroom Classic, Adobe’s broader Creative Cloud suite received a major AI expansion at the Adobe MAX 2025 conference, as reported by The Daily Guardian on October 30, 2025. Deepa Subramaniam, Vice President of Product Marketing for Creative Professionals at Adobe, emphasized the company’s commitment: “We’re delivering several groundbreaking AI tools and models into creative professionals’ go-to apps, so they can harness the tremendous economic and creative opportunities presented by the rising global demand for creative content. With AI that gives creative professionals more power, precision and control – and time-savings – Creative Cloud is truly the creative professional’s best friend.”
Other notable AI enhancements across the Creative Cloud include an AI Assistant in Photoshop on the web, Firefly, and Adobe Express, enabling users to interact with AI for creative commands and personalized suggestions. New Generative Fill and Upscale tools leverage advanced models, including Google Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, Black Forest Labs’ FLUX.1 Kontext, and Adobe’s own Firefly Image Models, to facilitate image editing and enhancement through text prompts while maintaining visual consistency. Premiere Pro gained AI Object Mask for automatic subject isolation in videos, and Photoshop introduced a Harmonize feature to seamlessly blend elements into different scenes.
Adobe also unveiled Firefly Image Model 5 (public beta), its latest AI engine designed for detailed edits using natural language prompts, ensuring coherence and accuracy in complex visual changes. The company announced over 100 performance and design improvements across its Creative Cloud applications. While some features like Assisted Culling and AI Object Mask remain in beta, many new AI tools, including Generative Fill, Upscale, and Harmonize, are already available. Creative Cloud Pro and Firefly plan subscribers are offered unlimited image and video generations using Firefly and partner models until December 1.

The photography community has generally responded positively to these updates, appreciating Adobe’s focus on practical AI solutions that directly address workflow inefficiencies. This approach, which prioritizes augmenting existing tools rather than fully generating content, is seen as a valuable direction for AI implementation in creative software.
