The integration aims to streamline creative workflows for social creators, marketers, and visual designers, providing tools for consistent visual styles, rapid prototyping, and efficient content adaptation across various formats. Adobe emphasizes its multi-model approach, offering users a diverse selection of AI models while maintaining a commitment to responsible AI use, including invisible watermarks for traceability.
Adobe has officially announced the integration of Google’s cutting-edge Gemini 2.5 Flash Image model into its popular creative applications, Adobe Firefly and Adobe Express. This strategic partnership, effective August 26, 2025, marks a significant expansion of Adobe’s generative AI ecosystem, providing users with enhanced capabilities for image creation and manipulation.
The Gemini 2.5 Flash Image model is lauded for its state-of-the-art image generation and editing prowess, enabling users to interact with the AI through natural language prompts. Key features include the ability to maintain the original composition, objects, and people in photos while adding, changing, or removing elements as desired. It also supports multi-turn edits, allowing for iterative modifications that feel natural and context-aware.
This integration is set to revolutionize workflows across various creative sectors:
Social Creators: Can leverage Gemini 2.5 Flash Image within Firefly to produce a series of stylized graphics with a cohesive look and feel. These can then be seamlessly transferred to Adobe Express for animation, resizing, prompt-based caption generation, and publishing across social media channels.
Marketers and Small to Medium Businesses (SMBs): Will find it easier to adapt existing campaign assets in Adobe Express. The new model facilitates the generation and adaptation of visuals across diverse formats, from social media posts and flyers to presentations and email graphics. Users can quickly swap backgrounds, integrate objects into any photo, or generate variations for realistic, on-brand results.
Visual Designers: Can rapidly prototype product concepts or character designs in Firefly, exploring multiple creative directions. The work can then be seamlessly moved into Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator for fine-tuned edits and professional polish.
Adobe’s approach to generative AI is rooted in multi-model creativity, offering customers a broad and diverse set of AI models. In addition to its own commercially safe Firefly generative AI models for image, video, vector, and audio, Adobe Firefly and Adobe Express users can choose from partner models including Google’s Imagen 3 and Veo 2, OpenAI’s GPT image generation, and models from Black Forest Labs, Runway, Pika, Ideogram, Luma AI, and Moonvalley. This flexibility ensures creators can select the most suitable model for their specific creative needs without switching platforms.
Availability and Responsible AI:
Gemini 2.5 Flash Image is immediately available in Firefly’s Text to Image module and Firefly Boards (beta). Adobe Express users will gain access starting September 1. For a limited time, paid Adobe Firefly and Creative Cloud Pro subscribers will enjoy unlimited generations with Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, while new customers on Firefly’s free plan can access up to 20 generations.
In line with its commitment to responsible AI, Adobe ensures that none of the content generated within its applications will be used to train AI models. Furthermore, every image created with Gemini 2.5 Flash Image will include a hidden SynthID watermark, enhancing traceability and indicating that the image was AI-generated.
