Acumera and Scale Computing Unite to Create Leading Edge AI Software Company

TLDR: Acumera has acquired Scale Computing, forming a new entity under the Scale Computing brand, to establish the industry’s largest edge computing-focused software company. This strategic merger integrates advanced edge AI, virtualization, and secure networking solutions, aiming to simplify the deployment and management of AI workloads at the edge for businesses globally.

In a significant move poised to reshape the edge computing landscape, Acumera, a provider of edge networking and computing platforms, has officially acquired Scale Computing, a pioneer in hyperconverged infrastructure and edge virtualization. The combined entity will operate under the Scale Computing brand, aiming to become the largest edge computing-focused software company in the industry, capable of serving businesses ranging from single locations to global enterprises with up to 100,000 sites.

The acquisition, announced around July 31, 2025, brings together Acumera’s expertise in secure managed edge and network services, including its AcuVigil and Reliant Platforms, with Scale Computing’s highly available edge AI and virtualization solutions. This integration is designed to create a unified platform that enables organizations to confidently and securely deploy and manage AI workloads directly at the edge, where real-time decision-making, low-latency processing, and operational simplicity are paramount.

Bill Morrow, CEO of the newly formed Scale Computing, expressed enthusiasm for the merger, stating, “We believe Acumera and Scale Computing customers and partners will benefit from having the ability to leverage both the Scale Computing Platform and the Acumera SaaS solutions for edge computing, secure edge networking, managed network services, and PCI compliance for multi-site businesses.” He further emphasized that the combined company’s technology offerings represent “a significant step forward in our vision to empower organizations of all sizes with intelligent, AI-ready edge infrastructure that reduces complexity while enhancing performance and resilience.”

The merger is expected to accelerate innovation across various key industries, including retail, hospitality, manufacturing, and energy. It will also provide scalable edge solutions crucial for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) in managing distributed operations, reducing downtime, and ensuring seamless customer experiences. The new Scale Computing aims to simplify AI deployment, improve real-time decision-making, and enhance overall operational efficiency for its diverse clientele.

Jeff Ready, former CEO and co-founder of Scale Computing, will assume the role of President and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) in the new organization. Ready commented on the merger, stating, “Joining forces with Acumera marks an exciting new chapter for Scale Computing, our customers, our partners, and our team. The new Scale Computing will bring even more innovative and powerful solutions to our partners and customers.”
