TLDR: The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has signed three strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Capgemini, Statista, and the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) to advance Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, and digital innovation in the healthcare sector, aiming to establish an intelligent and sustainable healthcare system and reinforce Abu Dhabi’s role as a global hub for health innovation.

DUBAI, 17th October, 2025 (WAM) – The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the primary regulator of the Emirate’s healthcare sector, has officially entered into three strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with prominent global organizations. These agreements are designed to significantly advance the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, and digital innovation throughout the healthcare ecosystem.

The partnerships, forged with Capgemini, Statista, and the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), underscore Abu Dhabi’s unwavering commitment to developing a world-leading, intelligent, and sustainable healthcare system. This initiative further solidifies the Emirate’s reputation as a global testbed for health innovation.

These MoUs are set to bolster research and innovation efforts, facilitate crucial knowledge exchange, and accelerate the deployment of scalable, high-impact solutions across Abu Dhabi’s healthcare landscape, thereby reinforcing its position as a global innovation hub.

Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Under-Secretary of DoH, emphasized the significance of these collaborations, stating, “Abu Dhabi is advancing the entire value chain of healthcare transformation, from improving quality of care and treatment outcomes to strengthening our digital infrastructure and accelerating research and innovation. Through these strategic collaborations, we are reinforcing the foundations of an intelligent and resilient health system that puts people first. By working hand in hand with our partners, we continue to unlock new opportunities where data, cutting-edge technology and science come together to deliver meaningful impact for patients in Abu Dhabi and beyond.”

Key Collaborations and Their Objectives:

Partnership with Statista: This agreement aims to establish a unified approach to hospital quality metrics and foster collaboration, thereby enhancing Abu Dhabi’s global visibility, transparency, and benchmarking of healthcare quality. This will enable Abu Dhabi’s hospitals to be represented in global quality benchmarking initiatives, including Newsweek and Statista’s ‘World’s Best Hospitals’ ranking. Future plans include expanding this framework to encompass additional healthcare metrics, reinforcing DoH’s dedication to data-driven excellence.

Collaboration with Capgemini: This partnership is focused on accelerating the implementation of AI-driven use cases to boost operational efficiency, refine regulatory oversight, and improve service delivery across the healthcare ecosystem. A key outcome will be the development of advanced AI anomaly-detection models designed to identify and combat instances of fraud, waste, and abuse within the system. Furthermore, this initiative will integrate AI insights into policy and workflow design, facilitating faster decision-making and smarter regulatory monitoring under a joint governance framework that adheres to UAE laws and international AI ethics standards.
