Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development (DCD) is making a significant impact at Gitex Global 2025, underscoring the critical role of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in fostering inclusive and sustainable social progress. The department’s participation, running from October 13-17, 2025, at the Abu Dhabi Government Pavilion in Sheikh Saeed Hall, features a series of innovative initiatives and workshops aimed at leveraging technology for community well-being.

Central to DCD’s showcase is a dedicated workshop titled ‘From Minimal Machine Learning to Generative AI’. This session delves into how AI can be instrumental in shaping social policies, enhancing decision-making, and ultimately improving the quality of life for community members. The workshop outlined practical applications for social sector professionals, including the early identification of community needs, optimizing resource allocation, and simulating the outcomes of social policies before their implementation. This strategic integration of digital analytics with social planning is emphasized as crucial for ensuring lasting positive impact.

Dr. Arif Al Hammadi, Acting Director-General of Strategic and Digital Affairs at DCD, highlighted the department’s vision, stating, “AI has become a key pillar in designing inclusive and sustainable social solutions. By leveraging AI’s analytical power, we can better understand social data, predict future needs, and design effective policies that align with our leadership’s vision of building a cohesive society with a high quality of life for all.”

Beyond the workshop, DCD is also spotlighting its flagship ‘UNIVATE’ Social Innovation Initiative. This program empowers young individuals to develop creative, technology-based solutions for social challenges. Students from previous UNIVATE Competitions are presenting their AI-driven projects, demonstrating how modern technologies can address real-world social issues and raise community awareness through digital innovation.

In a broader effort to cement Abu Dhabi’s leadership in human-centric technology integration, DCD has unveiled several new AI-powered platforms. These include the ‘Community Well-Being Dashboard’, an advanced system that combines quality of life indicators and district-level data to identify and detect community risks and challenges much earlier than traditional systems. Another significant launch is the ‘Family Support Insights’ platform, an AI-driven tool designed to identify families most in need of government assistance by integrating data from various government entities. Additionally, the ‘Family Space’ project, launched on the ‘TAMM’ platform, aims to simplify access to government services for families through a unified and smart dashboard, covering various life stages from marriage to children’s education and overall family well-being.
