Generative AI Propels ChatGPT into Top 10 of Brand Loyalty Leaders, Reshaping Consumer Engagement

TLDR: AI brands are rapidly transforming customer loyalty, with ChatGPT making a significant leap into the top 10 of Brand Keys’ 17th annual Loyalty Leaders List. This shift highlights how generative AI, personalized customer experiences, and immersive brand interactions are compressing the timeline for building strong consumer devotion.

New York, NY – October 21, 2025 – The landscape of consumer loyalty is undergoing a dramatic transformation, largely driven by the rapid ascent of artificial intelligence. According to the 17th annual Loyalty Leaders List released by Brand Keys, a brand research consultancy, generative AI platforms are enabling brands to forge deep consumer connections in years, rather than the decades traditionally required.

Most notably, ChatGPT has surged into the top 10, securing the No. 8 spot, a remarkable jump from its No. 40 position last year. This rapid rise underscores a fundamental shift in how consumers form loyalty bonds, demonstrating that AI companions can achieve devotion as quickly as established entertainment platforms or beloved food brands.

Robert Passikoff, founder and president of Brand Keys, emphasized the defining factors of this year’s loyalty winners: ‘A combination of generative AI, always-on CX, and brand experiences that consumers actually want is defining this year’s loyalty winners. More and more, loyalty isn’t set in stone — it’s set in code.’

The survey reveals that consumer expectations are escalating at an unprecedented rate, increasing by an average of 30% year-over-year. In contrast, brands are only managing to improve their performance by 9%–11%. This widening ‘loyalty gap’ is where AI is proving to be a critical bridge, filling the void faster than traditional models.

Beyond ChatGPT, other digital giants have also made significant gains in the top rankings. Amazon retained its No. 1 position, while Google climbed from No. 25 to No. 2, and Microsoft advanced from No. 32 to No. 3. Apple, previously at No. 1, now stands at No. 4, followed by Coca-Cola, which made an impressive leap of 76 places to No. 5. The remainder of the top 10 includes Samsung, Paramount+, TikTok, and Levi Strauss.

Passikoff further elaborated on the evolving nature of loyalty, stating, ‘Brands that deliver interaction, personalization, and emotional resonance win. When consumers feel seen, they stay.’ He predicts that AI will continue to integrate into daily routines across various sectors, including shopping, media, health, and finance. This integration will shift loyalty from transactional to relational, and eventually, predictive, where AI will play a role in consumers’ brand choices based on trust, history, and context. The implication for marketers is clear: adaptive loyalty experiences, powered by empathetic and transparent AI, will be key to securing long-term consumer allegiance.
