Applied Systems Unveils Advanced AI Solutions to Revolutionize Insurance Agency Operations

TLDR: Applied Systems has announced significant advancements within its Applied Insurance AI™ suite, integrating artificial intelligence to streamline agency workflows, enhance productivity, and improve client engagement. New and upcoming features include AI-powered email summarization, content creation, account rounding with Applied Book Builder™, and automated financial statement reconciliation with Automated Statements, aiming to empower insurance professionals by automating routine tasks.

Applied Systems, a leading provider of insurance software solutions, is set to transform the operational landscape for insurance agencies with its latest artificial intelligence (AI) advancements. These innovations, part of the Applied Insurance AI™ suite, are designed to embed intelligence directly into agency workflows, promising increased productivity, profitability, and an elevated customer experience.

At the core of these advancements is the strategic integration of AI to automate time-consuming administrative tasks, thereby freeing up insurance professionals to focus on strategic growth and client relationship building. Kevin Soskin, SVP of Sales at Applied Systems, emphasized this partnership, stating, “AI isn’t replacing insurance company professionals; it’s empowering them. The best implementations of AI in our industry aren’t about automation for automation’s sake. They’re about creating a partnership where technology handles and optimizes repetitive routine tasks while humans focus on relationship building and complex decision-making.”

Among the key AI-powered solutions being rolled out are:

Email Summarization: This feature automatically condenses lengthy client emails into concise summaries, highlighting critical points and required actions, significantly reducing reading time for CSRs and account managers.

Intelligent Content Creation: Leveraging generative AI, similar to large language models like ChatGPT, agencies can now automate the creation of customized marketing content, including emails and social posts, tailored to specific client situations and needs based on existing system data.

Enhanced Account Rounding with Applied Book Builder™: Slated for release in 2025, Applied Book Builder™ will utilize AI to enrich commercial risk profiles by drawing from thousands of publicly available sources. This will help identify coverage gaps within existing policies and provide market placement insights, turning renewals into growth opportunities. This directly addresses the finding from Applied’s 2024 Voice of Customer survey, which identified managing renewals as the number one most inefficient task for agencies, and account rounding as the top source for growth over the next five years.

Automated Statements for Financial Reconciliation: Launching in Fall 2025, this AI-powered tool will revolutionize financial operations by automating the recording and reconciliation of direct bill commissions and agency bill payables. It processes statements regardless of format (PDF, XLS, CSV, or paper), extracting necessary data and matching it directly to policies and plans within Applied Epic. This solution aims to drastically cut down the over 15 hours per week accounting staff often spend on manual reconciliation.

Beyond these specific tools, Applied Systems is also integrating AI for broader applications such as sophisticated fraud detection, streamlining claims processing, and enhancing underwriting accuracy through machine learning. AI chatbots are also being deployed to handle basic customer service inquiries, allowing independent agents to manage more complex issues and improve overall customer experience.

Anupam Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Applied Systems, highlighted the company’s vision, stating, “At Applied, we recognize the immense potential AI holds to revolutionize our workflows, enhance customer interactions, and boost overall efficiency.” The company believes that by embracing this human-AI partnership, agencies will not only achieve greater efficiency but also elevate the role of agents in the digital age, enabling them to deliver smarter, more agile solutions and reshape the future of the insurance industry.
