TLDR: SolarWinds has launched its new AI Agent and expanded existing AI features to accelerate the shift towards autonomous operational resilience in IT. These innovations aim to help IT teams manage complex, distributed environments by predicting issues, automating responses, and reducing the burden on professionals, addressing the ‘resilience gap’ where many IT leaders report unexpected outages despite high self-ratings of resilience.
SolarWinds, a prominent provider of observability and IT management software, has announced the launch of its new AI Agent and a suite of expanded AI capabilities. These advancements are designed to propel the transition to autonomous operational resilience, a critical need in today’s increasingly complex and distributed IT landscapes.
According to the latest SolarWinds IT Trends Report, nearly half of IT leaders are experiencing unexpected outages, despite often rating their operational resilience highly. This disparity, termed the ‘resilience gap,’ is precisely what the SolarWinds AI Agent aims to address. The agent is engineered as an intelligent, context-aware system capable of predicting potential issues, automating response mechanisms, and significantly reducing the cognitive load on IT professionals.
Built upon ‘AI by Design’ principles, which extend the company’s ‘Secure by Design’ framework into the realm of artificial intelligence, these new offerings introduce conversational, agentic AI directly into daily IT operations. This integration is expected to bolster detection, diagnostics, and remediation processes.
The SolarWinds AI Agent is envisioned as a vital digital team member for IT operations, empowering professionals to:
Resolve incidents faster: The agent can automatically summarize outages, collect diagnostic data, pinpoint probable root causes, and suggest effective remediation steps.
Utilize natural language: IT teams can interact with the agent using plain-language commands to inquire about system health, compare metrics, receive recommendations, and initiate multi-step workflows.
Simplify observability management: Configuration and management of SolarWinds Observability can be performed directly through the intuitive agentic interface.
Krishna Sai, Chief Technology Officer at SolarWinds, emphasized the significance of this launch, stating, “The SolarWinds AI Agent is more than a feature—it’s a foundation for a new way of working.”
Sudhakar Ramakrishna, President and CEO of SolarWinds, highlighted the company’s strategic focus: “For the past year, we’ve focused on operational resilience—the ability to protect, maintain, and quickly recover systems even during disruptions.” He added, “With the AI Agent and expanded capabilities, we’re taking the next step: helping customers achieve autonomous operational resilience, where IT runs smarter, faster, and more securely with minimal manual intervention.”
Ramakrishna further elaborated on the pressures faced by IT leaders, noting, “Every IT leader is under pressure to do more with less, but outages and complexity continue to slow teams down.” He believes the new AI Agent will be transformative: “With the SolarWinds AI Agent, we are reducing the mean time to detect and resolve issues by putting automation, observability, visualization, and remediation into a single, intelligent cycle. The result is stronger resilience, greater productivity, and more time for teams to focus on innovation.”
