Revel8 Secures €7 Million to Fortify Defenses Against Advanced AI Cyber Threats

TLDR: Berlin-based cybersecurity startup Revel8 has successfully raised €7 million in funding to combat the escalating threat of AI-powered cyberattacks. The company specializes in training ‘human firewalls’ through AI-native, deepfake-first simulation platforms, aiming to reduce human error, which remains the primary entry point for breaches.

Berlin, Germany – September 25, 2025 – Revel8, a pioneering cybersecurity startup, today announced it has closed a €5.7 million seed funding round, bringing its total capital raised to €7 million since its inception in 2024. This significant investment underscores the growing urgency to counter sophisticated AI-powered cyberattacks that are increasingly targeting organizations worldwide.

The funding round was spearheaded by Peak, with notable participation from Fortino Capital, Merantix Capital, and a consortium of prominent angel investors. These include football star Mario Götze, Sergej Epp (CISO, Sysdig), Michael Schrank (CISO, Adidas), Rogier Fischer (Co-founder & CEO, Hadrian), and Alexander Rinke (CEO, Celonis).

Revel8 was founded by Julius Muth, Tom Müller, and Robert Seilbeck, who identified critical vulnerabilities in existing cybersecurity defenses against AI-driven impersonation tactics. The rise of generative AI has dramatically lowered the barrier for malicious actors to create highly convincing fake voices, images, and messages. This has led to a surge in vishing incidents in 2024, with high-profile deepfake attacks continuing to pose significant threats into 2025. Despite the technological sophistication of these attacks, a staggering 9 out of 10 cyberattacks still originate from human error, making the human element the number one entry point for attackers.

Revel8’s innovative approach focuses on transforming the human layer into an active line of defense. The company’s AI-native, deepfake-first platform is designed to rapidly replicate new social-engineering methods and leverage Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) to create highly tailored simulations for each employee. This personalized training system delivers adaptive, role-aware ‘playlists’ that evolve based on individual behavior and performance, offering multi-channel, in-the-moment exercises across email, SMS, voice, and video.

Julius Muth, Co-founder and CEO of Revel8, emphasized the shortcomings of conventional training methods. ‘Traditional e-learning is outdated, and realistic simulations of current, relevant scams are far more effective,’ Muth stated. ‘By continuously exposing users to cyberattacks across all communication channels, we help clients build a strong security culture and reduce the risk of costly incidents.’

Dr. Peter Dornheim, CISO at Daimler Truck, lauded Revel8’s unique methodology, remarking, ‘It’s like having a personal Spotify playlist of cyberattacks for each employee!’ The platform integrates live human threat intelligence, OSINT risk profiling to scan over 400 data points for digital exposure, AI-powered attack simulations, next-gen learning and gamification, and robust compliance and reporting features. An AI assistant provides continuous coaching, custom learning modules, and 24/7 support, ensuring ongoing improvement.
