TLDR: Vena, a financial planning and analysis (FP&A) software firm and Microsoft partner, has launched its new AI ‘Planning Agent.’ This innovative solution, already in closed beta, has demonstrated the ability to reduce budgeting cycles by over 60% for early customers. The Planning Agent is designed to accelerate budgeting, predictive forecasting, and scenario modeling by seamlessly integrating with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Azure, and Teams. This launch is part of Vena’s broader ‘agentic-first’ AI strategy, aiming to enhance efficiency and strategic decision-making in the rapidly growing FP&A software market, projected to reach $16.9 billion by 2030.

TORONTO – September 15, 2025 – Vena, a leading financial planning and analysis (FP&A) software provider and a strategic Microsoft partner, today announced the official launch of its groundbreaking AI ‘Planning Agent.’ This new agentic AI solution is set to redefine finance workflows by significantly streamlining budgeting, predictive forecasting, and scenario modeling processes for finance professionals.

During its closed beta phase with select private preview customers, the Vena Planning Agent has already achieved remarkable results, cutting budgeting cycles by more than 60%. This efficiency gain addresses a critical need within finance departments, which typically face a median annual planning cycle of 35 days and a median forecast cycle of 11 days. The demand for faster, smarter, and more adaptable planning tools is escalating, with the global FP&A software market anticipated to surge to $16.9 billion USD by 2030.

“We have grown Vena on a foundation of best-in-class, cutting-edge and AI-enhanced solutions for the office of finance. The Planning Agent is just our latest innovation that delivers the confidence to make bold, decisive moves that capitalize on the opportunities in economic volatility,” stated Hugh Cumming, CTO of Vena. He further elaborated, “It gives decision makers the ability to simulate outcomes, adjust strategies and act with confidence — without the weeks or months traditional planning requires.”

Key capabilities of the Vena Planning Agent include:

Driver-Based Planning: Enables rapid forecasts and budgets leveraging historical trends and business-specific logic.

Predictive Forecasting: Combines historical data with macroeconomic signals to generate accurate and unbiased forecasts.

Intelligent Scenario Modeling: Instantly creates ‘what-if’ scenarios, compares them against baselines, and evaluates their potential business impact.

Purpose-built for the Office of Finance, the Planning Agent integrates seamlessly across the Microsoft technology ecosystem, including Excel, Power BI, Azure, and Teams. This integration reinforces Vena’s commitment to human-centric innovation within the Microsoft environment.

The Planning Agent has already garnered industry recognition, winning the ‘Highest Business Impact’ award at the 2025 Vista Equity Partners North America Agentic AI Hackathon in July. Andrew Stanbridge, VP of Product at Vena, commented, “This project represents the next frontier in business planning, combining AI autonomy with human strategic oversight. Winning the award validates the tangible value we’re delivering for customers and our disciplined, market-aligned roadmap.”

This new offering is a significant expansion of Vena’s ‘agentic-first’ FP&A platform, which was initially launched in May 2024. It joins other AI agents such as the Analytics Agent and Reporting Agent, with the Vena Query Agent slated for release later this fall. These agents collectively aim to create a continuous loop of foresight, analysis, and action, enabling finance teams to query live data, integrate insights into plans, and test scenarios instantly. Vena emphasizes that enterprise-grade security, governance, auditability, and performance are built into these solutions, ensuring confident AI adoption.
