Mysuru, September 5, 2025 – In a significant recognition of educational innovation, Madhusudan KS, a science teacher at the Government Higher Primary School in Hinkal, Mysuru, was awarded the National Teachers Award 2025 by President Droupadi Murmu. The award ceremony, held on Friday, honored 81 educators nationwide, with Madhusudan being one of four recipients from Karnataka. He was specifically lauded for transforming his government school into a vibrant hub of technological learning.
Madhusudan’s pioneering effort involved establishing an advanced ‘C-Lounge,’ also referred to as ‘M Lounge Studio (Meet, Make, Marvel),’ within the school premises. This state-of-the-art facility, which became fully operational in 2023, is equipped with a range of cutting-edge technologies including robotics kits, artificial intelligence (AI) tools, drones, 3D printers, and virtual reality (VR) systems. The initiative aims to move beyond traditional textbook learning, offering students a dynamic environment to experiment and create.
Speaking about his vision, Madhusudan stated, “The idea was born out of my vision to create a space where innovation meets curiosity. I noticed children understood concepts better when they experimented and created on their own.” He further emphasized the impact of his initiative, adding, “C-Lounge integrates STEM education and ensures that every child, regardless of background, can bring their ideas to life.” This approach has proven highly successful, with the Hinakal School, once facing low attendance, now experiencing a notable increase in enrollment due to his unique teaching style.
The studio provides students with hands-on experiential learning, enabling them to work on real-world projects such as grey water purification systems. Madhusudan, who has 17 years of teaching experience and holds a postgraduate degree in English with a BEd, also utilizes AI to develop simplified modules for complex scientific procedures, making learning more accessible and engaging for students from classes 1 to 7. His dedication to innovative education was previously recognized with the Karnataka State Best Teacher Award in 2024.
