Broadcom Unveils VMware Tanzu Data Intelligence and Platform 10.3, Powering AI-Ready Data and Application Management

TLDR: Broadcom has announced significant updates to its VMware Tanzu portfolio with the introduction of Tanzu Data Intelligence and Tanzu Platform 10.3 at VMware Explore 2025. These new offerings aim to provide enterprises with an AI-ready data lakehouse platform for unified, low-latency access to multimodal data, alongside an enhanced application development platform designed to accelerate the secure integration of generative AI capabilities into enterprise applications.

LAS VEGAS – Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO) today announced major advancements in its VMware Tanzu portfolio, unveiling VMware Tanzu Data Intelligence and VMware Tanzu Platform 10.3 at VMware Explore 2025. These releases are set to transform how enterprises manage data and applications, positioning them for the era of artificial intelligence (AI) with enhanced speed, security, and scalability.

VMware Tanzu Data Intelligence: A Foundation for AI-Driven Insights

The cornerstone of this announcement is VMware Tanzu Data Intelligence, a cutting-edge data lakehouse platform. Designed to address the growing demand for AI-ready data, it offers unified, low-latency access to multimodal data, encompassing both structured and unstructured formats. The platform supports advanced AI/Machine Learning (ML) functionalities, including native vector search and real-time analytics, enabling organizations to derive faster insights from their vast data estates. It is engineered to manage data efficiently, scaling effortlessly from terabytes to petabytes, while ensuring massive concurrency across data, users, and APIs. Crucially, Tanzu Data Intelligence provides comprehensive data governance and lineage tracking, offering clarity on data origins and usage, which is vital for regulatory compliance and trustworthy AI outcomes.

VMware Tanzu Platform 10.3: Accelerating Secure AI Application Development

Complementing the data intelligence offering, VMware Tanzu Platform 10.3 introduces significant enhancements aimed at accelerating the secure development and integration of generative AI (GenAI) capabilities into new and existing enterprise applications. This updated platform is billed as a ‘prescriptive, pre-engineered AI application development platform’ that abstracts away complexities like server provisioning and networking, allowing developers to focus on innovation. Key features include a new vulnerability insights dashboard for improved security transparency, granular AI model service plans with quota capabilities and webhook integration for better control over security and cost management. The platform also facilitates service publishing in the Tanzu Platform Marketplace, fostering collaboration and enabling developers to offer their AI applications as services. Additionally, new application onboarding and modernization tools are included to help identify, refactor, and automate app migration, promising improved performance and reduced costs.

Addressing Industry Challenges and Driving Agentic AI Innovation

Broadcom’s latest innovations directly tackle critical challenges faced by enterprises in their AI journeys. According to Gartner, ‘through 2026, 30% of generative AI (GenAI) projects will be abandoned after proof of concept due to poor data quality, inadequate risk controls, escalating costs or unclear business value.’ Furthermore, analysts indicate that up to 90% of enterprise data is unstructured and often inaccessible for analysis and application use.

Purnima Padmanabhan, vice president and general manager of the Tanzu Division at Broadcom, emphasized the strategic importance of these updates: “Business leaders who want to be part of the next wave of AI application innovation—such as personalized customer experiences or agentic workflows—understand that modern app and data architecture is critical to the development cycle. While many organizations have invested in application platforms and looked to SaaS platforms to help modernize their data strategy, they struggle with silos between their application and data teams and the unpredictability of costs of data movement both within and across cloud environments. Tanzu Data Intelligence combined with Tanzu Platform provides our customers with the power of a modern multimodal data lakehouse architecture and our proven single-command CF-push technology but with the cost predictability of a private cloud.”
