SAP Concur Introduces AI-Powered Booking Agent to Streamline Corporate Travel

TLDR: SAP Concur has unveiled an AI-powered ‘Booking Agent’ designed to simplify corporate travel planning and expense management. Launched at the GBTA Convention in Denver, this conversational travel assistant allows business travelers to book policy-compliant trips using natural language, offering personalized options and real-time cost breakdowns. The innovation is part of SAP’s broader Joule Agents Copilot initiative and aims to enhance efficiency and traveler experience.

New Delhi – SAP Concur, a global leader in integrated travel, expense, and invoice solutions, has announced the launch of its innovative AI-powered ‘Booking Agent’ at the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) Convention in Denver. This advanced conversational travel assistant is set to revolutionize how businesses manage corporate travel, making the planning process as intuitive as a casual conversation.

The ‘Booking Agent’ empowers business travelers to bypass complex policy documents and multiple screens, enabling them to book trips using simple, natural language commands such as, ‘Book me a flight to Bengaluru on Thursday morning.’ The system then provides instant, personalized, and policy-compliant travel options, complete with real-time price breakdowns and spending estimates.

Charlie Sultan, President of Concur Travel at SAP Concur, stated, ‘We continue to enhance the new Concur Travel experience to better serve customers. With SAP Business AI, we’re innovating rapidly to transform the way companies manage business travel and improve the business traveler experience.’ This initiative is integrated into SAP’s wider Joule Agents Copilot, which aims to streamline workflows across various business functions by interpreting traveler intent and offering context-rich recommendations that align with both company policies and individual preferences.

The introduction of the ‘Booking Agent’ comes amidst growing acceptance of AI in business travel. A recent SAP Concur Global Business Travel Survey revealed that 88% of global business travelers are comfortable using AI-powered automation for tasks such as booking, re-booking, or completing expense reports. The most popular applications identified were supporting re-booking or changes before a trip (44%) and curating travel options during initial booking (39%).

Designed to meet the demands of dynamic, digitally-driven markets like India, the ‘Booking Agent’ offers flexible, intuitive, and mobile-first business tools. It not only empowers employees but also provides finance and travel managers with essential safety rails for compliance and budget control.

In addition to the ‘Booking Agent,’ SAP Concur is rolling out enhancements to Concur Request, allowing employees to request budget allocations for multiple trips within a defined period, rather than submitting separate requests for each trip. This feature can apply to individuals with multiple trips or teams traveling together, significantly improving efficiency for both employees and managers.

SAP Concur is also launching ‘Trip Extras,’ a new Concur Travel feature that offers travelers vetted third-party travel services throughout the booking process. This provides timely information from trusted partners, supporting decision-making aligned with company policies, travel guidance, sustainability goals, and traveler well-being.

These innovations underscore SAP Concur’s commitment to making business travel and expense management effortless through advanced technology.
