TLDR: Salesforce has unveiled new flexible billing options for its Agentforce AI platform, including ‘Flex Credits’ for consumption-based pricing, a ‘Flex Agreement’ to optimize human and digital workforce investments, and upcoming unlimited AI access for employees. These changes aim to address high upfront costs and rigid licensing, making AI adoption more accessible and scalable for businesses.
Salesforce, a global leader in AI CRM, announced significant updates to the pricing model for its Agentforce platform, designed to make AI adoption more flexible, affordable, and scalable for businesses of all sizes. The announcement, initially made in May 2025, addresses a critical challenge faced by many organizations: managing AI costs while driving innovation. According to Salesforce’s CIO AI Trends report, a staggering 90% of CIOs report that AI costs are limiting their ability to derive value from artificial intelligence initiatives.
To overcome these barriers, Salesforce has introduced three major pricing innovations:
1. Flex Credits: This new consumption-based pricing model allows businesses to pay only for the AI actions they use. Each Agentforce AI task consumes 20 Flex Credits, priced at approximately $0.10 per action. Customers can purchase credits in bundles, for example, 100,000 credits for $500. This model ensures that spending is directly tied to measurable business outcomes, eliminating wasted expenditure on unused licenses. Enterprise Edition customers and higher are also eligible for 100,000 free Flex Credits to get started.
2. Flex Agreement: This innovative framework provides companies with the ability to strategically shift investments between human and digital labor. Organizations can convert unused user licenses into Flex Credits or vice-versa, allowing for dynamic budget allocation based on evolving business needs and priorities. This flexibility helps align AI spending with areas that generate the most impact.
3. Unlimited AI Access for Employees: Starting in Summer 2025, Salesforce plans to roll out new user licenses that offer unlimited use of AI agents for employees. These licenses will feature a simple per-user-per-month pricing model, ensuring seamless integration with Salesforce and Slack, and enabling AI support across various departments such as Sales, HR, and Service without usage caps.
These updates are not merely a pricing adjustment but represent a fundamental shift in how businesses can adopt and scale AI. The new Agentforce models are designed to be more affordable, allowing companies to start small and scale as needed; more flexible, ensuring payment only for actual usage; more scalable, enabling growth of the AI workforce alongside the business; and more outcome-driven, directly linking investment to measurable results.
