KIOXIA Unveils Advanced Flash Storage Solutions to Power AI Expansion at FMS 2025

TLDR: KIOXIA showcased its latest flash memory and SSD innovations at FMS 2025, emphasizing solutions designed to meet the escalating demands of Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads. Highlights include the industry’s first 245.76 terabyte NVMe SSD, the KIOXIA LC9 Series, alongside advancements in BiCS FLASHâ„¢ technology aimed at optimizing AI infrastructure investments.

KIOXIA Group, a global leader in memory solutions, took center stage at FMS: The Future of Memory and Storage 2025, held from August 5th to 7th in Santa Clara, California. The company’s presence underscored its commitment to driving scalable and efficient infrastructure crucial for the burgeoning field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

At the forefront of KIOXIA’s showcase was the groundbreaking KIOXIA LC9 Series, touted as the industry’s first 245.76 terabyte (TB) NVMeâ„¢ SSD. This high-capacity solid-state drive is specifically engineered to address the intensive storage requirements of generative AI environments and other demanding data center applications. Beyond the LC9 Series, KIOXIA also highlighted its KIOXIA CM9 Series and KIOXIA CD9P Series SSDs, which are built with the company’s advanced BiCS FLASHâ„¢ generation 8 3D flash memory, delivering superior performance, power efficiency, and versatility for enterprise and data center use.

Further demonstrating its technological prowess, KIOXIA presented its 1 terabit (Tb) 3bit/cell (TLC) products featuring BiCS FLASHâ„¢ generation 9 and generation 10 3D flash memory technology. These next-generation flash memories incorporate cutting-edge interface standards such as Toggle DD6.0, leverage the SCA (Separate Command Address) protocol, and utilize PI-LTT (Power Isolated Low-Tapped Termination) technology. These innovations collectively contribute to significant improvements in data input/output speed and a reduction in power consumption, critical factors for large-scale AI deployments.

KIOXIA’s leadership in the AI storage domain was further solidified through key presentations at FMS 2025. Katsuki Matsudera, General Manager of the Memory Technical Marketing Managing Department for Kioxia Corporation, and Neville Ichhaporia, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the SSD Business Unit for KIOXIA America, Inc., delivered a keynote address titled ‘Optimize AI Infrastructure Investments with Flash Memory Technology and Storage Solutions’ on August 5th. The company also participated in an ‘Executive AI Premier Level Panel’ on August 7th, discussing ‘Memory and Storage Scaling for AI Inferencing.’
