droppGroup Invests $5 Million in D-GN to Advance Ethical AI Data Solutions

TLDR: droppGroup has led a $5 million pre-seed funding round for Data Guardians Network (D-GN), a decentralized platform focused on providing ethically sourced and auditable training data for artificial intelligence. This investment aims to address the growing issue of lawsuits in the AI industry due to the use of stolen or unlicensed data, strengthening droppGroup’s commitment to compliant and transparent AI infrastructure.

Miami, Florida – July 24, 2025 – droppGroup, a U.S.-based company specializing in sovereign-grade AI and blockchain solutions, has announced its leadership in a fully subscribed $5 million pre-seed funding round for Data Guardians Network (D-GN). This significant investment, made in collaboration with Saudi businessman Hamoud Al-Rumayyan and veteran crypto firm Hub Culture, underscores a strategic move towards establishing an ethical foundation for artificial intelligence development.

D-GN is a decentralized platform designed to deliver highly accurate and ethically sourced training data to the AI market. The initiative directly addresses a critical challenge facing the AI industry: the proliferation of lawsuits stemming from foundational models trained on stolen or unlicensed data. Faisal Al Monai, Chairman of droppGroup, emphasized this point, stating, “Billions of dollars in lawsuits are hitting the AI industry because foundational models have been trained on stolen or unlicensed data.” He further added, “D-GN solves this industrial problem. It transforms global human input into an auditable, tokenized data engine that ethically trains, verifies and improves AI systems across voice, image and text. We took part of the round because we see this as a core pillar of the future AI stack for all our clients.”

Al Monai also drew a comparison to a major industry player, noting, “When we saw Meta purchase a stake in Scale AI for around $14-15 billion, investing in D‑GN at this stage looked like a steal. We believe D-GN is the Scale AI killer.” He highlighted D-GN’s distinct approach, stating, “More importantly, D‑GN does it differently, upholding both ethical AI and ethical labor standards. No outsourcing to click‑farms, no gray IP zones – just transparent, auditable, fair data.”

Unlike Scale AI, which has faced scrutiny regarding its labor practices and the use of unlicensed content, D-GN employs a decentralized contributor model with on-chain traceability via Solana and utilizes Tether’s USDT for stablecoin payments. This ensures fair compensation for workers and promotes responsible AI model training. The investment will enable D-GN to expand its contributor operations across MENA, Latin America, and Southeast Asia, develop multimodal frontier datasets (including voice, lip sync, and human-emotion mapping), and enhance integrations with open-source and enterprise AI frameworks. This partnership is expected to provide D-GN with the necessary resources and infrastructure to scale ethical data globally, reinforcing droppGroup’s existing ethical AI infrastructure, which is already in deployment with major entities like Saudi Aramco, Cisco, and various government partners.
