Newsweek has officially unveiled the recipients of its inaugural AI Impact Awards 2025, celebrating 38 companies that are leveraging artificial intelligence to address everyday challenges with innovative and measurable solutions. The awards span 13 distinct categories, with a special emphasis on the ‘Best Of—Most Innovative AI Technology or Service’ category, which spotlights exceptional cross-industry advancements in the practical application of machine learning.
Among the distinguished ‘Best Of’ winners is Ex-Human, a pioneering digital platform enabling users to create customizable AI humans for interaction. Ex-Human received the ‘Extraordinary Impact in AI Human Interactivity or Collaboration’ award. Artem Rodichev, founder and CEO of Ex-Human, shared with Newsweek that the company was founded in response to the escalating global loneliness epidemic. Citing data from the U.S. Surgeon General, Rodichev highlighted that approximately 30 percent of U.S. adults experience loneliness weekly, with this figure soaring to roughly 80 percent among Gen Z. Ex-Human aims to bridge this gap by creating empathetic, ‘non-boring AI’ characters, moving beyond the purely informative, ‘Mr. Wikipedia’ style of current AI interactions. Rodichev expressed a vision for ‘AI that can feel, that can love, that can hate, that can feel emotions and can connect on an an emotional level with users,’ drawing inspiration from classic sci-fi films like ‘Blade Runner’ and ‘Her.’
Also recognized in the ‘Best Of’ category is Fal.ai, a developer-focused platform specializing in the creation of AI-generated audio, video, and images. Fal.ai was honored with the ‘Extraordinary Impact in General Purpose AI Tool or Service’ award. Co-founder Gorkem Yurtseven emphasized the significance of this recognition, stating it ‘recognizes generative media as its own market and sector that is very promising and growing really fast.’ Fal.ai primarily operates in the B2B sector, providing AI media tools to assist other businesses in generating diverse media content.
Further demonstrating the breadth of AI’s impact, ABBYY was also among the companies recognized, specifically for its significant contributions to ‘transforming financial operations with Document AI.’ This highlights the critical role AI plays in enhancing efficiency and accuracy within enterprise solutions.
