Chennai, India – In a significant move to bolster India’s deep-tech capabilities, IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Madras, has officially launched the inaugural batch of its Advanced Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence & Deep Learning. This comprehensive 7-month (28-week) online program, developed in collaboration with TimesPro, is designed to cultivate a new generation of AI-literate professionals capable of driving innovation and shaping intelligent systems across diverse sectors.
The program offers a meticulously crafted, application-focused curriculum tailored to address the escalating demand for skilled AI practitioners. Participants will gain cutting-edge expertise in machine learning, deep learning frameworks, data analytics, and emerging AI technologies, including generative AI. The curriculum spans nine intensive modules, covering foundational and advanced topics such as Python for Data Science, Probability & Statistics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning Foundations, AI Applications, Large Language Model Operations (LLMOps), and cybersecurity applications. Learners will acquire hands-on proficiency with industry-standard tools like Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and MLOps.
A key highlight of the program is a dedicated month-long capstone project, providing participants with a practical opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problem-solving using structured, image, or text data. The faculty includes distinguished experts such as Prof. Babji Srinivasan, Dr. Neelesh S Upadhye, Dr Ranganathan Srinivasan, Dr. P Satya Jayadev, Prof. Pankaj Dutta, Mr. Suresh Ramadurai, Professor C. Chandra Sekhar, and Professor Dileep A.D.
This initiative is strategically positioned to bridge the existing AI skill gap. The global AI market is projected to experience exponential growth, from USD 189 billion in 2023 to an estimated USD 4.8 trillion by 2033, according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Domestically, the India Skills Report 2024 by Wheebox forecasts India’s AI market to reach USD 28.8 billion by 2025, growing at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 45%. Furthermore, AI is expected to enhance nearly 27% of jobs in advanced economies, improving productivity and complementing human capabilities.
The program is open to graduates and postgraduates in engineering, mathematics, or computational sciences, with a minimum of 50% marks in graduation. It also caters to professionals seeking to transition into AI roles or enhance their careers with domain-aligned analytical capabilities. Upon successful completion, learners will receive a certificate from IITM Pravartak, the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Madras, and TimesPro, validating their proficiency in advanced AI applications. The program fee is 1,44,000 INR plus GST.

Applications for the September 2025 intake are currently open, with the program scheduled to commence on September 13, 2025. The deadline for online applications is September 6, 2025.
