SAN JOSE, Calif. – Zoom Video Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: ZM) today announced a significant expansion of its artificial intelligence offerings, introducing new agentic AI capabilities aimed at revolutionizing workplace productivity. The centerpiece of this rollout is the ‘Custom AI Companion’ add-on, which empowers users to automate tasks and orchestrate workflows across a multitude of business-critical applications directly from within the Zoom platform.
Agentic AI, a form of artificial intelligence capable of operating autonomously with minimal human oversight, is at the core of Zoom’s latest innovation. This technology allows the AI Companion to perform tasks, gather data, and achieve objectives automatically, thereby reducing manual effort and enhancing efficiency. Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer at Zoom, emphasized the impact, stating, “With Zoom AI Companion’s agentic skills, users will see a significant productivity boost to help them get more done — not just in Zoom, but across business-essential apps like ServiceNow, Jira, Asana, Box, and more.”
The Custom AI Companion add-on now boasts connectivity with more than 16 third-party applications, including prominent platforms such as Amazon Q, Glean, Jira, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Zendesk. This integration goes beyond simple data exchange; it enables the AI Companion to trigger actions within these external applications, allowing users to update sales pipelines, resolve service tickets, assign project tasks, and manage candidate workflows without navigating away from Zoom. This positions Zoom as a central operational hub for enterprises, a strategic goal the company has been steadily pursuing.
Building upon its existing generative AI assistant, the AI Companion, which received initial agentic upgrades in March, these new tools further enhance its capabilities. Key features include advanced calendar scheduling management, the ability to generate concise clips from lengthy video meetings, and comprehensive writing assistance for document creation. The latest enhancements also introduce real-time call questions and automatic meeting agenda creation, features now included at no additional cost with paid Zoom licenses.
For specialized needs, the Custom AI Companion add-on offers tailored solutions. Professional service providers, sales professionals, and educators can customize the companion for their unique requirements. It can attend meetings on behalf of users to automatically transcribe discussions, summarize key points, and deliver follow-up actions. Users can also leverage AI-generated Zoom Clips with custom avatars, allowing them to create an avatar in their likeness and have the AI generate content from meetings, saving considerable time.

This accessibility extends its benefits to small business owners, enabling them to leverage AI Companion across third-party video conferencing platforms like Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, customize meeting summary templates, and create custom avatars to boost productivity and focus on business growth.
