TLDR: Paris-based AI startup Tandem has successfully raised €3.2 million in a Seed funding round led by Tribe Capital. The company specializes in developing in-app AI agents designed to help users complete tasks directly within software applications, aiming to enhance user activation, reduce friction, and decrease customer support costs by making complex features more accessible and actionable.
Paris, France – July 9, 2025 – Tandem, an innovative French startup focused on artificial intelligence, has announced the successful closure of a €3.2 million Seed funding round. The investment, led by Tribe Capital, known for backing companies like Kraken, Docker, and Airtable, will fuel Tandem’s mission to integrate its AI-powered ‘execution layer’ into more applications and establish its U.S. headquarters in San Francisco.
Founded in 2024 by Christophe Barre and Manuel Darcemont, Tandem addresses a critical challenge in the software industry: the underutilization of advanced features and high user drop-off rates due to complex interfaces. The company’s core offering is an in-app AI agent that transforms static product interfaces into dynamic assistants, enabling users to ‘get things done’ without extensive learning or manual effort.
Christophe Barre, CEO and Co-founder of Tandem, articulated the company’s vision, stating, “Users shouldn’t have to learn a product before they can use it. We built Tandem because too many valuable features go unused, and users don’t need more explanations of how to use them – they just need the ability to act. Tandem steps in at that moment of friction, helping users move forward by doing the task with or for them.”
The startup was launched at Hexa, a renowned startup studio responsible for successful ventures like Front, Spendesk, Aircall, and Swan. Tandem’s technology is already integrated into prominent tools such as Qonto, Aircall, and Sellsy, demonstrating its immediate applicability and value.
According to data provided by Tandem, a significant portion of new users, approximately 64%, never fully activate within products, and 5-8% of revenue is often absorbed by customer support efforts. Churn and missed revenue are frequently linked to users struggling with or abandoning underused features. Tandem aims to mitigate these issues by providing a persistent ‘Do it with AI’ button within applications, allowing users to delegate tasks like setup, configuration, or form-filling with a single click. Behind this button, an intelligent AI agent understands both the product’s functionalities and the user’s specific needs, acting on their behalf.
Initial results from early integrations are promising. At Aircall, Tandem reportedly boosted the adoption of advanced features by 10-20%. Similarly, at Qonto, the AI assistant helped over 100,000 users discover and activate paid features, including insurance and card upgrades. Maxime Champoux, Head of Product at Qonto, praised the solution, saying, “Using Tandem feels like infusing a bit of magic into our product. It effectively addresses our navigation challenges, enabling our users to extract more value from Qonto. As a result, we see an increase in activation and a decrease in company-wide support tickets.”
