TLDR: The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) recently concluded a two-day IBM Skill Build Program, focusing on equipping students with essential digital, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and employability skills. The initiative, led by EduNet Foundation’s Deepneel Majumdar, introduced students to the IBM Skills Build Platform and covered foundational courses including ‘Exploring Data’ and ‘Exploring Artificial Intelligence’.
The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) successfully hosted a comprehensive two-day IBM Skill Build Program, designed to significantly boost students’ digital proficiency and employability in the rapidly evolving technological landscape. The program, held at BAM Hall, NEISSR, Chümoukedima, emphasized critical skills in digital technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and overall career readiness.
Deepneel Majumdar, a Subject Matter Expert and Manager at EduNet Foundation, served as the distinguished resource person for the program. Majumdar, an M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering and a PhD scholar, brings over two decades of extensive experience in both academia and the IT industry. His expertise encompasses various cutting-edge fields, including Cloud Computing (AWS, IBM Cloud), Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and programming languages such as Python, Java, and PHP. Known for his practical, industry-oriented teaching approach, Majumdar provided an enriching learning experience that seamlessly connected theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.
The first day of the program was dedicated to introducing participants to the IBM Skills Build Platform. This free, globally recognized digital learning initiative by IBM offers individuals access to advanced training in emerging technologies and professional development. Majumdar guided the students through the platform’s six foundational courses: Exploring Data, Exploring Artificial Intelligence, Exploring Cloud Computing, Exploring Cybersecurity, Exploring Quantum Computing, and Exploring Emerging Technologies. Participants successfully completed the initial module, ‘Exploring Data,’ gaining fundamental insights into data principles, data-driven decision-making, and the increasing importance of data across diverse industries. The interactive session encouraged students to continue their learning journey on the platform to further enhance their digital literacy and employability potential.

The second day shifted its focus to Artificial Intelligence and broader Employability Skills. Discussions included the significance of a well-crafted cover letter as a concise and purposeful introduction to a resume, providing participants with a deeper understanding of professional communication and career presentation skills vital for success in competitive job markets. The program concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing students to clarify concepts and share their reflections on the valuable sessions. The event was chaired by Sani Koshia, with Mhasileto leading the invocation. Dr. Lily Sangpui, Assistant Professor at NEISSR, introduced and felicitated Mr. Majumdar, acknowledging his significant contributions. The NEISSR administration extended its gratitude to Deepneel Majumdar and EduNet Foundation for their collaborative efforts in advancing digital education and employability development among their students.
